What are entry level attorneys?

Entry level attorneys are recent law school graduates or individuals who have recently passed the bar exam and are beginning their legal careers. They typically work under the supervision of more experienced attorneys and assist with research, drafting legal documents, and helping prepare cases. Entry level attorneys can work in various settings, including law firms, government agencies, or corporate legal departments. Their responsibilities often focus on learning practical legal skills and gaining experience in their chosen field of law.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Entry Level Attorney, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Entry Level Attorney, you need a Juris Doctor (JD) degree, bar admission in your practicing state, and a solid grasp of legal research, writing, and analysis. Familiarity with legal research platforms like Westlaw or LexisNexis and proficiency in document management systems are typically required. Strong communication, attention to detail, and time management skills help you build client relationships and manage caseloads effectively. These competencies are crucial for providing sound legal advice, meeting deadlines, and establishing a successful legal career.

What are some common challenges faced by entry level attorneys in their first year, and how can they overcome them?

Entry level attorneys often encounter challenges such as managing heavy workloads, adapting to the fast-paced environment of law firms, and bridging the gap between academic knowledge and practical legal skills. Navigating client expectations, learning firm protocols, and handling multiple assignments simultaneously can feel overwhelming at first. To overcome these challenges, new attorneys should proactively seek feedback, build strong relationships with mentors and colleagues, and prioritize effective time management. Open communication and a willingness to continuously learn are key to successful integration and professional growth in the early stages of a legal career.

Job description

Paralegal – Foreclosure

Location: Fort Lauderdale, FL

This isn't an entry-level support role. We're looking for a seasoned Foreclosure Paralegal who knows the full lifecycle of a foreclosure matter inside and out — from initial referral through final judgment and beyond — and who is ready to bring that expertise to one of Florida's most recognized law firms.

Kelley Kronenberg's Foreclosure practice is one of the most active in the state, and we're growing. If you've built your career in foreclosure, thrive in a high-volume environment, and want the stability of a firm that has been named one of South Florida's Best Places to Work by the Sun-Sentinel, read on.

What Sets This Role Apart
  • Hybrid Flexibility: Work from our Fort Lauderdale headquarters — with a hybrid schedule that respects your life outside work.
  • High-Impact Practice: You'll be a central figure on a busy, collaborative Foreclosure team — not a paper-pusher, but a case driver trusted with complex matters.
  • A Firm That Invests in You: Competitive salary, a comprehensive benefits package, and a culture that prioritizes professional growth and work-life balance.

What You'll Do

As a full lifecycle Foreclosure Paralegal, you will manage cases from referral to resolution, including:

  • Oversee and advance foreclosure matters through all stages of litigation, ensuring deadlines are met at every step
  • Draft legal documents including correspondence, form pleadings, basic motions, and notices with accuracy and timeliness
  • E-File documents via E-Portal and serve opposing counsel electronically with precision
  • Coordinate and schedule hearings, depositions, mediations, and examinations under oath
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, judges, opposing counsel, and other legal professionals — screening and facilitating all communications on behalf of the attorney
  • Maintain and update client management systems (BKFS/Tempo), ensuring all active matters reflect a current status within a 30-day window
  • Track and manage documents produced in response to agency requests
  • Support the smooth daily operation of the unit with additional administrative duties as needed

Qualilfications
  • Full Lifecycle Foreclosure Experience: A minimum of 3 years of hands-on foreclosure (or foreclosure and bankruptcy) experience — you understand how a file moves from opening to close
  • Florida Litigation Familiarity: Working knowledge of Florida court procedures, e-filing systems, and foreclosure-specific timelines and deadlines
  • Tech Proficiency: MS Office Suite required; experience with Aderant Total Office (ATO) and/or BKFS/Tempo is a strong plus
  • Exceptional Organization: Able to manage a high caseload with precision, prioritizing competing demands without sacrificing quality
  • Strong Communicator: Professional, clear, and effective with attorneys, clients, opposing counsel, and court staff alike
  • Team-Oriented: Collaborative and dependable — someone the team can count on when case volume surges
