About the Role

A well-established law firm is seeking a motivated, perceptive entry-level Associate Attorney to join its Washington, DC office. The firm specializes in assisting corporate and municipal policyholders with insurance recovery, supporting parties responsible for environmental remediation, and resolving complex disputes. The role offers early exposure to sophisticated legal, scientific, and financial analysis, working alongside experienced attorneys and a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in managing client matters related to insurance recovery, corporate disputes, and environmental remediation.
  • Conduct legal research, analyze statutes, regulations, case law, and legal precedents relevant to insurance claims and corporate litigation.
  • Draft, review, and respond to correspondence from insurers and opposing parties.
  • Participate in client meetings, negotiations, and mediations under the guidance of senior attorneys.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, non-attorney staff, and clients to ensure coordinated and effective solutions.
  • Maintain accurate and organized case files, ensuring confidentiality and proper documentation.
  • Stay current on legislative and regulatory changes affecting insurance coverage and corporate dispute resolution.
  • Track case progress, billable hours, and substantive developments for reporting to supervising attorneys.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in Washington, DC, or eligibility for immediate admission.
  • 0–2 years of legal experience preferred, ideally in insurance, corporate litigation, environmental law, or related fields.
  • Strong legal research, analytical, drafting, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a team.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to client service, confidentiality, and professional integrity.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and legal research platforms such as LexisNexis.
