Entry Level Associate Attorney Jobs in Texas (NOW HIRING)

The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) is seeking several Associate Reviewing Attorneys (ARAs) for a rewarding, non-traditional licensed attorney position offering a positive work environment and professional development. While our Commission Appeals Department is located in Austin, Texas, work can be performed from any city in Texas. Qualifying candidates must have a secure, dedicated workspace with internet service, the ability to maintain a reliable and consistent work schedule and be available for weekly meetings and group collaboration via Microsoft Teams during regular business hours.

Who We Are:
Texas Workforce Commission connects people with careers across the state. Commission Appeals is a specialized department within TWC's Office of General Counsel, responsible for providing legal support in administrative cases that fall under the jurisdiction of TWC's three Governor-Appointed Commissioners. Our team summarizes informal, administrative hearings and makes recommendations for case resolution in cases involving Unemployment Benefits, Wage Claims, and other programs as part of TWC's mission to promote and support the workforce system of Texas.

What You'll Do:
The Associate Reviewing Attorney (Attorney I) performs entry-level to routine (journey-level) legal work in a structured, predictable environment. TWC provides detailed, comprehensive training and a supportive ramp-up period. Once fully trained, you will manage a steady, largely independent workflow. In this role, you will extract relevant facts from audio testimony and file documents to draft concise written summaries and work product. ARAs work under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

You Will Be Trusted To:
-Manage a predictable caseload: Maintain a steady, consistent workflow to successfully process an assigned quota of cases each week.
-Analyze and summarize efficiently: Effectively incorporate relevant information from audio testimony and documentary evidence into concise written summaries.
-Apply the law accurately: Ensure that recommendations and prepared decisions conform to existing law-including the Texas Unemployment Compensation Act (TUCA) and Texas Payday law-as well as Commission precedent.
-Draft and review: Prepare legal summaries, decisions, and other documents applying laws and precedents related to programs administered by TWC.
-Conduct hearings: As needed, execute telephonic hearings in accordance with agency guidelines.
-Perform related duties as needed.

- Graduation from an accredited law school approved by the American Bar Association and admission to the State Bar of Texas.
