Job description

Description
Massachusetts Institute of Technology Sloan School's Applied Economics Group in Cambridge, MAis seeking one or more tenure-track faculty at the junior and senior levels, effective July 1, 2026, or as soon thereafter as possible. We stress high research potential or achievement; faculty responsibilities include conducting original scholarly research in applied economics or relevant topics; teaching basic Economic Theory and Applied Economics, as well as more specialized courses at graduate and undergraduate level.
The pay range for a 9-month academic appointment at the entry-level Assistant Professor rank (excluding summer salary): $225,000 - $254,000. The pay offered to a selected candidate during hiring will be based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience and education/training, internal peer equity, and applicable legal requirements. These factors impact where an individual's pay falls within a range. Employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background check, including verifying any finding of misconduct (or pending investigation) from prior employers.
Qualifications
Applicants must possess a PhD in Economics or a related field by the start of employment.
