What you will do:

The Project Engineer supports the successful planning, coordination, and execution of construction and building product projects by managing engineering documentation, technical communications, procurement support, and project coordination activities. Working closely with Project Managers, Field Operations, Estimating, Purchasing, Production, Quality, and Safety teams, this role helps ensure projects progress efficiently from planning through closeout. The Project Engineer plays a key role in maintaining project documentation, supporting field operations, coordinating engineering information, and driving successful project execution while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.

Project Engineering & Technical Coordination

  • Manage Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, engineering correspondence, and design clarifications
  • Maintain project document control systems, revision logs, and engineering records
  • Coordinate drawing revisions and distribute updated project documentation to project teams
  • Review project drawings, specifications, and engineering documents for completeness and accuracy
  • Support engineering communications between customers, design professionals, field personnel, and internal departments
  • Assist with interpretation of construction drawings, framing plans, specifications, and technical documents

Project Coordination

  • Support Project Managers throughout the project lifecycle from project startup through closeout
  • Assist with project planning, scheduling, and coordination activities
  • Track project scope changes and support preparation of change documentation
  • Build and maintain installation work packages and project documentation
  • Coordinate turnover packages, punch list documentation, and project closeout materials
  • Assist with project reporting, forecasting, and operational tracking

Procurement & Material Support

  • Support purchasing and procurement activities by coordinating material requirements and delivery schedules
  • Assist with material expediting to support project schedules
  • Prepare and maintain bills of material (BOMs) and installation work packages
  • Coordinate with Purchasing, Production, Warehouse, and Field Operations to ensure material availability
  • Monitor procurement activities and communicate potential material delays

Field & Construction Support

  • Coordinate with construction, production, quality, and safety teams throughout project execution
  • Support field personnel by providing engineering documentation, technical information, and project updates
  • Participate in project meetings and field coordination discussions
  • Assist Foremen, Project Managers, and Operations teams with technical documentation and installation planning
  • Support resolution of field questions and engineering-related issues

Reporting & Documentation

  • Generate and maintain project reports, status updates, and engineering documentation
  • Track project milestones, schedules, financial information, and progress metrics
  • Maintain organized project files and documentation within company systems
  • Support project audits and document management initiatives
  • Assist with continuous improvement of project management and engineering processes

Safety & Quality

  • Promote compliance with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and project safety requirements
  • Support quality assurance processes by ensuring documentation is accurate and current
  • Participate in project quality reviews and operational improvement initiatives
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned

  • Experience using Procore or comparable construction management software preferred
  • Working knowledge of CPM scheduling and project scheduling concepts
  • Experience with document control systems, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation preferred
  • Ability to work effectively under deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Regular and reliable attendance required
  • Combination of office, warehouse, manufacturing, construction site, and field environments
  • Frequent collaboration with Project Managers, Field Operations, Purchasing, Production, Engineering, Quality, and Safety teams
  • Occasional travel to customer jobsites, project meetings, manufacturing facilities, and branch locations
  • Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods while also walking construction sites and production facilities
  • Ability to occasionally lift project documents, samples, or materials up to 25 pounds
  • May require occasional evenings or weekends based on project schedules and operational needs
