Job Title: Assistant Project ManagerJob Description

The Assistant Project Manager develops under senior leadership to support electrical distribution projects, with growing responsibility for estimating, scheduling, procurement, and overall project management. This entry-level role offers the opportunity to learn the utility distribution business from the ground up, gain strong exposure to project financials, and progress into direct customer-facing responsibilities within the first few months.

Responsibilities
  • Support the planning and execution of electrical distribution projects, including estimating, scheduling, procurement, and overall project coordination.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules to ensure work progresses according to plan and deadlines are met.
  • Contribute to project budgeting and cost analysis, tracking financial performance and supporting accurate financial reporting.
  • Work extensively with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, to manage data, prepare reports, analyze costs, and support project financial tracking.
  • Shadow utility distribution crews to learn day-to-day operations, field processes, and the practical aspects of the distribution business.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure materials, equipment, and resources are procured and available in alignment with project schedules.
  • Support communication with customers and stakeholders, taking on customer-facing responsibilities once adequately trained.
  • Assist senior leadership with documentation, status updates, and reporting on project progress, schedules, and financial performance.
  • Participate in continuous learning and development activities to grow into a fully independent project management role.
  • Contribute to a safe, organized, and efficient work environment both in the office and when shadowing field crews.

  • Understanding of construction management practices, including scheduling, budgeting, and cost analysis.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced skills in Excel for data management and financial analysis.
  • Ability to work with project financial data, including budgeting, cost tracking, and financial reporting.
  • Interest in and ability to learn utility distribution operations through both office work and field shadowing.
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with project teams and interacting with customers once trained.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in managing schedules, documentation, and financial information.
  • Ability to work independently under guidance from senior leadership and take initiative in learning and development.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management is strongly preferred; recent graduates are highly encouraged to apply.
  • Any prior experience with project financial reporting or cost analysis is a plus.

The local operation is in a growth phase, with plans to hire dozens of new team members over the next few months and expand from a primarily field-based workforce to a larger combined field and office presence. The Assistant Project Manager periodically shadows distribution crews in the field to gain a thorough understanding of the business and day-to-day operations.
