Job description

We are building Claude for customer support teams to automate any work behind support.

We work with fast-growing, consumer-facing companies across SaaS, gaming, fintech, e-commerce, and telehealth. We went through Y Combinator (W24) and are backed by top investors.

We're a small, fast-moving team. You'll have an outsized impact and own real customer outcomes from day one.

The Role

As our AI Agent Engineer, you'll be the technical owner of getting Duckie live and performing inside our customers' businesses. You'll embed with customers, understand their support workflows, configure and tune AI agents, build integrations, and drive resolution rates up until the agent is delivering real value.

This is a hybrid of engineering, AI agent building, and customer partnership. You're equally comfortable writing code and integrating APIs as you are on a call with a customer's Head of Support translating their needs into a working deployment.

What you'll do

  • Own end-to-end implementation of Duckie for new customers — from kickoff to a live, high-performing AI agent.
  • Configure, test, and tune AI agents to hit resolution targets, iterating on real ticket data.
  • Build and validate integrations with customer systems (Zendesk, Intercom, internal APIs, knowledge bases, and more).
  • Partner directly with customer stakeholders (support leaders, ops, engineering) to define success criteria and drive toward them.
  • Act as the trusted technical advisor that expands accounts and keeps customers happy.

What we're looking for

  • 2+ years in a technical, customer-facing role — forward deployed / solutions / implementation engineering, technical consulting, or similar.
  • Strong hands-on technical skills: comfortable writing code, working with REST APIs, and building/debugging integrations end-to-end.
  • Experience with LLMs / AI agents, or strong enthusiasm and aptitude to go deep fast.
  • Excellent communication — you can earn the trust of senior stakeholders and translate messy requirements into a clear plan.
  • Thrives in ambiguity and fast-moving environments; you self-direct and own outcomes without waiting for a spec.
  • Bias toward action and customer obsession.

Nice to have

  • Background at an early-stage startup.
  • Familiarity with prompt engineering, RAG, or agent evaluation.

Why join

  • Be one of the first forward deployed hires and shape how the function works as we scale.
  • Work directly with the founders and see your work live in production within days.
  • Own real customer relationships and outcomes, not tickets in a queue.
