M&N Plumbing Supply is one of Colorado's premier independent plumbing wholesalers, serving professional plumbing, mechanical, and HVAC contractors throughout the Rocky Mountain region. We are seeking an experienced Accounting Specialist to become a key member of our finance team.
This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for a seasoned accounting professional who can step in with minimal training, take ownership of their responsibilities, and contribute to improving the efficiency and accuracy of our accounting processes.
Position Summary
The Accounting Specialist is responsible for managing high-volume Accounts Payable while supporting other key accounting functions, including account reconciliations, month-end close activities, and financial reporting. The successful candidate will work closely with purchasing, operations, vendors, and management to ensure accurate and timely financial transactions.
Primary Responsibilities
· Process high-volume vendor invoices accurately and efficiently.
· Match invoices to purchase orders and receiving documents.
· Review invoices for proper approvals, coding, pricing, and payment terms.
· Prepare weekly check runs and electronic payments.
· Maintain vendor records and resolve vendor inquiries promptly.
· Reconcile vendor statements and investigate discrepancies.
· Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
· Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.
· Support Accounts Receivable functions as needed.
· Assist with financial reporting and audit preparation.
· Identify opportunities to improve accounting procedures and internal controls.
· Collaborate with other departments to resolve accounting and purchasing issues.
Qualifications
· Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in Accounts Payable.
· Experience in wholesale distribution, inventory accounting, manufacturing, or construction-related industries is preferred.
· Strong understanding of accounting principles and general ledger processes.
· High attention to detail with exceptional organizational skills.
· Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
· Experience using ERP or accounting software.
· Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities while meeting deadlines.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Self-motivated, dependable, and capable of working independently.
