What is an entry level accessibility?

An Entry Level Accessibility job focuses on making digital and physical environments more inclusive for people with disabilities. Professionals in this role assist in reviewing websites, applications, or physical spaces for accessibility compliance, often following standards like WCAG or ADA. Responsibilities may include conducting audits, testing with assistive technologies, and collaborating with developers and designers to implement improvements. This position is ideal for those starting in the field of accessibility, usability, or inclusive design. Basic knowledge of accessibility guidelines and an interest in inclusive technology are typically required.

What does an entry level accessibility do?

A typical day as an Entry Level Accessibility professional often involves reviewing digital content such as websites, documents, or applications to identify accessibility issues, running automated and manual tests, and documenting findings in clear reports. You may participate in meetings with designers, developers, and content teams to advise on accessibility improvements and prioritize fixes. Collaboration and learning are ongoing, as you stay up to date on standards and may receive guidance from more senior accessibility specialists. This collaborative, detail-oriented environment helps you build expertise while actively contributing to making technology more inclusive.

Attention to detail, effective communication, and a collaborative attitude are valuable soft skills in this role. These capabilities enable you to identify and address accessibility barriers, ensuring digital products are usable by all individuals, including those with disabilities.
