Job description

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Collaborates across departments and academic units to create and execute engaging programming
  • Develops and implements comprehensive event plans, including itineraries, resources, and other logistics
  • Acts as a liaison to event vendors and partners to ensure timely, on-budget programming
  • Leverages university communication and social media channels to promote events
  • Tracks engagement metrics and reports on event outcomes to develop recommendations for improvement
  • Serves as a conduit for information and feedback between students, faculty, and the university-wide committees
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of event planning and project management principles, requirements, and resources
  • Knowledge of communications and social media strategies and tactics
  • Skill in customer service and hospitality management
  • Skill in negotiating and coordinating with agencies, partners, and other constituents to meet event-specific needs
  • Ability to coordinate tasks, manage deadlines, and allocate resources efficiently
  • Ability to estimate costs and manage expenses to stay within event budget

Additional Details
The College of Engineering Technology (CET) Events and Operations Specialist is responsible for leading, planning, and executing a variety of college events and initiatives that support student engagement, new student orientation, recruitment, alumni relations, and several commencement and graduation activities. This position serves as a key resource to college stakeholders, providing event leadership and operational support. The Specialist also works closely with teams of student ambassadors to support training and consistent messaging across academic departments and collaboration with Enrollment Management on recruitment events, including open House programs and other prospective student engagement activities.
