Entry Level 2D 3D Animation information

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Entry Level 2D/3D Animator, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Entry Level 2D/3D Animator, you need a solid understanding of animation principles, basic art and design skills, and a portfolio showcasing your work, often supported by a degree or coursework in animation, graphic design, or a related field. Familiarity with industry-standard software such as Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Photoshop), Autodesk Maya, Blender, or Cinema 4D is typically expected. Creativity, attention to detail, strong communication, and the ability to take feedback are key soft skills that help animators succeed in collaborative environments. These skills and qualities are essential for producing high-quality animations that meet project goals and client expectations.

What are some typical challenges faced by entry-level 2D/3D animators in a studio environment?

Entry-level 2D/3D animators often encounter challenges like adapting to fast-paced project timelines and learning to use complex animation software efficiently. Another common hurdle is integrating feedback from multiple team members, such as directors, senior animators, and clients, while maintaining creative consistency. Balancing technical precision with artistic vision can also be demanding, especially when working on collaborative projects with tight deadlines. However, these challenges are excellent opportunities to develop problem-solving skills and grow as a professional animator.

What are Entry Level 2D 3D Animators?

Entry Level 2D 3D Animators are professionals who create moving images and visual effects using computer software, often for films, television, video games, or advertisements. They typically work on basic animation tasks, such as modeling, rigging, and animating characters or objects, under the supervision of more experienced animators. These roles are ideal for individuals who are just starting their careers in animation and offer opportunities to develop technical skills and build a professional portfolio.

Job description

Technical Designer (Gaming)
Build What Players Experience!!
Location: Onsite (Boca Raton, FL or Las Vegas, NV)
GC Holder or USC only! W2-FTE
We’re hiring a Technical Designer who operates at the intersection of creative design and development—someone who doesn’t just design ideas, but builds them into real-time game experiences. This is not a concept-only role.
Your work will ship, be played, and directly impact the player experience.
What You’ll DoYou’ll take concepts and turn them into production-ready assets that function inside a live game environment. You will:
  • Create animations, particles, and visual effects that enhance gameplay
  • Build mockups, UI elements, and game components
  • Design and implement 2D/3D assets optimized for real-time performance
  • Translate creative ideas into efficient, game-ready implementations
  • Partner closely with developers to ensure designs are achievable and performant
  • Iterate quickly based on feedback, gameplay needs, and technical constraints

What Makes This Role Different
  • Your work lives inside the game—not just in design files
  • You’ll solve real technical challenges, not just create visuals
  • You’ll work across multiple projects and teams in a fast-paced environment
  • You’ll have direct impact on live, player-facing products

What You Bring
  • Strong experience with:
    • Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects)
    • Spine (2D animation)
    • Real-time asset pipelines (2D/3D)
  • Ability to build optimized, performance-ready assets
  • Understanding of how assets function inside a game engine (Unity, Unreal, etc.)
  • Experience collaborating across design and development teams
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt quickly

Bonus
  • Experience in mobile gaming or slot games
  • Ability to build your own effects (VFX, particles, animations)
  • Familiarity with HTML/CSS or scripting
  • Exposure to AI-assisted creative tools

For Senior Candidates
  • A strong demo reel demonstrating animation principles, VFX, and real-time application
  • Experience working inside a game engine in production
  • Ability to guide others and communicate effectively across teams

What We Value
  • People who solve problems, not just execute tasks
  • People who can move quickly without sacrificing quality
  • People who understand both creative intent and technical constraints

Bottom LineIf you want to build assets that are actually used by players—and work closely with both designers and developers to bring ideas to life—this is the type of role where you’ll do your best work.
