Job description

Lighthouse Lab Services is excited to represent a laboratory in Carrollton, TX that is looking for a Laboratory Assistant/Specimen Accession to add to their growing team!

Position Overview:

  • The Laboratory Assistant is a core member of the Laboratory Operations team. This position supports routine testing in a clinical diagnostic laboratory and works with laboratory technologists who perform patient sample testing.
  • Evaluates specimen orders and enters clinical data / information into a variety of computer systems.
  • Identifies any missing or invalid data entry information and takes the appropriate action to correct it.
  • Performs technical and nontechnical procedures required to process and submit patient specimens for analysis.
  • Operates automated and semi-automated equipment according to standard operating procedures.
  • Communicates deficiencies to appropriate personnel, including deficiencies related to specimens, paperwork, database information and equipment.
  • Documents information as required, including processing logs quality control, and labeling of reagents.
  • Prepares reagents in the department.
  • Routinely handles biohazardous and/or chemically hazardous material.
  • Perform and inventory and ordering duties, general maintenance, and housekeeping duties
  • Other duties as requested by lab leadership.

Candidate Profile:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • Previous experience working in a Clinical Medical Laboratory preferred but not required.

Salary/ Benefits/ Shift:

  • $18-$20/hr depending on experience
  • 1st shift M-F
  • Full Comprehensive benefits
