Job description

Responsible for providing electrical engineering expertise to support the site’s electrical infrastructure through optimization, troubleshooting, project management, design, installation, commissioning, start-up, and validation skills. Efforts focus on providing long term support for the operation and maintenance of existing facilities with respect to the electrical power generation and distribution systems. The incumbent serves as the owner of the electrical systems and the electrical business process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Experience with Allen Bradley PLC Hardware/Software, Variable speed drives, hydraulics, pneumatics.
  • Owner of the site electrical business process which provides direction for maintaining the electrical infrastructure
  • Works under very general supervision and guidance, with more detailed instructions on new assignments. Works with manager to establish priorities and timelines
  • Uses judgment and discretion to solve a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. Seeks guidance from supervisor and more senior peers as needed when determining appropriate courses of action. Regularly exercises independent judgment and discretion regarding matters of significance
  • Research, design, test and install electrical apparatus, components and equipment
  • Plan, direct and coordinate activities in the operation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment and systems
  • Serve as electrical system owner and primary technical consultant by providing electrical engineering expertise, direction, and work oversight to contractors, vendors and suppliers
  • Review schematics plans and procedures and make recommendations to management for equipment selection, design, installation, commissioning, and validation. Upon approval, coordinate and/or conduct activities required to implement recommendations
  • Provide support for selecting, installing, operating, and troubleshooting instruments and controls associated with utility systems which may include fire protection
  • Collaborate with engineering staff to prepare controlled documents in support of the start-up, commissioning, validation and operation of the mechanical/HVAC, electrical and utility systems
  • Properly executes Confined Space Entry and Lock Tag Try procedures
  • Understands and executes Emergency Action Plans and Procedures related to the work area
  • Participates actively in all safety programs established in the plant • Keeps work are clean and free of hazards
  • Leads efforts to reduce sources of waste
  • Properly disposes of any wastes generated
  • Makes proper notification on environmental upset, releases, and or hazardous material spills according to procedures

  • Calculate figures/amounts and apply basic algebra and geometry concepts
