We design, manufacture, sell and support our products worldwide, from Lincoln, Nebraska. We are a small, locally owned and operated company, with a global customer base and a global impact on data security.
This Electrical Engineer position is responsible for the design of electronic, electrical, electromagnetic, magnetic and electromechanical subsystems and products. Through innovation, efficiency and principled design practices, this position works as a member of the engineering team to create products to fulfill market driven needs.
Essential Functions
• Work with the internal Engineering team, as well as vendors and customers to research and develop electronic and electrical subsystems and products for industrial and commercial applications
• Conduct research and analyze data and specifications to evaluate the feasibility, design, operation, performance, cost and requirements of new product designs
• Prepare, review and revise documents related to product designs, revisions and production procedures
• Assure product quality by developing inspection and test protocols
• Maintain product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations
• Identify and follow workplace and product safety requirements and procedures
• Provide information and support to the Manufacturing, Sales, and Service teams
• Other duties as assigned by the Engineering Manager
Competencies
• Experience with KiCad (or EAGLE, OrCAD, Altium, etc.) for schematic entry and PCB layout
• Experience with an integrated development environment and HAL for firmware development in C and C++
• Experience with Autodesk Inventor for simple 3D design for 3D printing and handoff to mechanical team
• Comfortable with protoboard or breadboard prototype development using breakout boards
• Knowledge of basic electrical components and how to combine them to create a desired function
• Ability to solder through hole and surface mount electrical components for board bring up and debugging
• Experience with basic electronic instruments: multimeter, oscilloscope, and magnetometer
• Experience using Microsoft Office Applications for managing and documenting projects
• Ability to use/learn Manufacturing Resources Planning for item definition and bill of material entry
• Ability to read and interpret data sheets to match best available parts to new product requirements
• Ability to manage one's own time and the time of others
• Ability to use "critical thinking" in solving problems
• Ability to use active listening when communicating with others
• Outstanding written and oral communication skills
• Must be a team player, self-motivated, dependable and dedicated
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment, a manufacturing floor, and an engineering lab.
Physical Demands
While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee is frequently required to walk or stand. The employee is occasionally required to bend, twist or reach as well as lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision preferred and the ability to adjust focus between multiple tasks.

Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
Preferred Education and Experience
• Advanced Engineering degree and/or 2+ years experience in electronic design
• Experience with LTspice for designing and simulating circuits is a plus
• Experience with Electromagnetic Finite Element Analysis (i.e. COMSOL) experience is a plus
• Experience with Python for scientific computing and instrumentation automation is a plus
• Experience with SAM D family of microcontrollers or Arm Cortex M0 processors is a plus
