When we say, "the stuff dreams are made of," we're not just referring to the world of wizards, dragons and superheroes, or even to the wonders of Planet Earth. Behind WBD's vast portfolio of iconic content and beloved brands, are the storytellers bringing our characters to life, the creators bringing them to your living rooms and the dreamers creating what's next...
From brilliant creatives, to technology trailblazers, across the globe, WBD offers career defining opportunities, thoughtfully curated benefits, and the tools to explore and grow into your best selves. Here you are supported, here you are celebrated, here you can thrive.
Your New Role:

Discovery has expanded its portfolio with Multi-Feed Production (MFP) workflows and launched the Remote Operations Center (ROC), a dedicated hub supporting remote live sports productions. The ROC is a versatile, production-focused environment designed to enhance operational efficiency and collaboration across remote broadcasts.
The ROC Specialist is responsible for providing the coordination, oversight, communication, and documentation necessary to establish and maintain consistency across Live Sports and Entertainment Operations. This role also fosters strong collaboration between WBD Techwood Studios Technical Operations, Remote Technical Operations, BEST Engineering, and external Sports and Entertainment partners.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to make decisions under pressure, prioritize and delegate tasks effectively, and communicate efficiently in a fast-paced environment to resolve any issues that arise. This position will maintain a technical monitoring station during live shows.
Your Role Accountabilities:
Technical Planning and Coordination:
  • Manage and communicate the technical details of all MFP productions.

  • Resolve potential production issues and resource conflicts in advance of production.

  • Monitor and manage incoming/outgoing video for all live MFP productions.

  • Participate in pre and post-show technical meetings as necessary.

  • Prepare and distribute documentation of event details to relevant stakeholders.

Studios On-Site Event Support:
  • Assist with MFP production setup, fax, and ensure production plans are followed.

  • QC (Quality Control) video and audio signals for air.

  • Ensure incoming/outgoing routing is configured and routed accordingly.

  • Function as the audio and video liaison between site and PCR (Production Control Room) operations.

  • Troubleshoot technical issues and communicate to appropriate teams to help resolve.

  • Work with onsite operators to fax off site equipment.

  • Manage network VLAN's to production equipment.

Communication and Documentation:
  • Provide timely, high-level communication of technical issues that impact live productions.

  • Collaborate with Studio and Remote Technical Operations, Live Production Engineering, and Operations to ensure smooth technical set up and execution for productions.

Strategic Technology Evaluation:
  • Collaborate with Production, Technical Operations, and Engineering to evaluate and determine the strategic use of future technology used in the Remote Operations Center and areas it touches.

  • Assess technical operations methods and recommend changes where necessary.

Qualifications & Experiences:
  • BS/BA degree preferred.

  • Minimum of 4 years of network-level broadcast production experience for live game, live remote, and/or live studio productions.

  • Proficiency in technical planning and documentation for live sports, news, or entertainment productions.

  • Experience in managing and monitoring video and audio signals for live events.

  • Proficient in video and audio router operations.

  • Knowledge of current industry audio and video standards.

  • Familiarity with Remote Operations, Production Control Room operations, and technical liaison roles.

  • Ability to lead technical meetings and resolve issues proactively.

  • Must be able to work independently, and with small and large teams.

  • Must be flexible and able to work non-traditional hours, including weekends and holidays.

Not Required but preferred experience:
  • TD, A1, Engineering or Technical Manager experience.

  • Ability to handle the pressures of live programming and limited time constraints.

  • Open to travel if required.
