1. Monitoring Platform Ownership & Engineering

*Own the design, implementation, and lifecycle management of NPM platforms (e.g., SevOne, flow analytics, telemetry collectors)

*Define and maintain network-specific alert policies and routing

*Continuously improve signal-to-noise ratio

4. Network Performance Analysis & Optimization

*Perform deep analysis of network performance issues: Latency, packet loss, congestion, routing anomalies

*Drive root cause analysis (RCA) for high-severity incidents

*Identify and execute performance improvement opportunities

*Support capacity planning and forecasting

5. Dashboarding, Reporting & Observability Integration

*Build and maintain: Operational, Executive dashboards (trends, SLA reporting)

*Enable cross-domain correlation (network ↔ application ↔ infrastructure)

*Integrate with enterprise observability platforms (e.g., Dynatrace, ITOM)

6. Incident Response & Operational Support

*Lead or support network-related incident triage and resolution

*Act as SME for network signals during major incidents

*Define and improve incident response playbooks

*Partner with Network Engineering to separate: Tool issues vs. actual network faults

7. Device & Coverage Management:

*Ensure full monitoring coverage across: Routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, WAN edges, cloud networking.

*Oversee: Device onboarding and modeling. Metric completeness and accuracy.

*Identify and eliminate monitoring blind spots

8. Governance, Standards & Compliance

*Define & enforce: Monitoring standards. Naming conventions, tagging, metadata.

*Support audit, risk, and regulatory requirements

*Ensure monitoring tools meet enterprise architecture and compliance expectations

9. Cross-Team Collaboration & Enablement

*Partner with: Network Engineering (signal validation, device ownership). SRE / Observability (correlation, automation). Application teams (impact analysis).

*Provide guidance and onboarding support to teams adopting NPM capabilities.

*Help define clear ownership boundaries (tool vs domain).

10. Automation & Continuous Improvement

*Automate: Device onboarding, Alert tuning, Reporting and dashboards.

*Drive self-healing and proactive remediation use cases

*Continuously improve: MTTR / MTTD, Monitoring coverage, Operational efficiency.

Work Environment

This position will require onsite in Buffalo, NY 4 days per week.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Buffalo, NY.

The pay range for this position is $55.98 - $93.29/hr.
