Job description

Position: Python Developer

Location: Richmond, VA or Plano, TX

Work Model: Hybrid – 3 days onsite per week

Duration: Long term contract

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Python Developer to build and support scalable, cloud-based applications in a large enterprise environment. This role involves backend development, API design, database integration, and CI/CD processes on AWS.

Strong Priority: Former Capital One engineers. Candidates must provide verifiable Capital One credentials to confirm return eligibility. This is the primary candidate pool for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend applications using Python
  • Build and consume RESTful APIs and microservices
  • Develop cloud-native solutions using AWS
  • Work with relational and NoSQL databases for data storage and retrieval
  • Integrate CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins
  • Track development tasks, defects, and releases using Jira
  • Collaborate with product owners, architects, and cross-functional teams
  • Participate in code reviews and follow enterprise development standards
  • Support production issues and participate in on-call rotations as needed

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Former Capital One experience – STRONGLY preferred
  • Must provide credentials for rehire eligibility verification
  • Strong hands-on experience with Python development
  • Experience building and supporting APIs (REST / Microservices)
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services
  • Strong database experience:
    • SQL
    • DynamoDB
    • Aurora
    • Oracle
    • RDS
  • Experience with Jenkins for CI/CD
  • Experience using Jira for Agile project tracking
  • Strong understanding of backend architecture and application design

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with cloud-native or distributed systems
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform / CloudFormation)
  • Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Experience working in regulated or large enterprise environments
  • Agile / Scrum development experience
