An Enterprise Community is a federally designated area in the United States where local governments and community organizations can receive special support to encourage economic development and job creation. The goal is to foster sustainable economic growth and reduce poverty by leveraging public and private resources. Enterprise Communities were established under the Empowerment Zones and Enterprise Communities Initiative, which was part of the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1993.
