Job description

Enrollment Specialist

Hamilton-Madison House's Early Childhood Education Program supports and enhances the existing strengths of family child care through programs that promote continuous and responsive relationships, strengthen early learning skills, build resilience, and lay the foundation for all future learning. Hamilton-Madison House views family childcare as a respected and valued profession within the early care and education system in New York City.

The main priority of the Enrollment Specialist is to recruit expectant mothers, families, and caregivers for a variety of Early Childhood Education Programs offered through HMH. In addition to outreach the Enrollment Specialist will verify eligibility to ensure programs are fully enrolled with eligible children and expectant mothers, and monitor ongoing ERSEA compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Enroll eligible children, families, expectant mothers and affiliated providers for EHS/HS services,
  • Identify and share resources and programs with children who may be in refugee, homeless, military service family, foster care situations
  • Ensure program meets enrollment criteria focused on supporting children with disabilities
  • Provide assistance in determining preliminary eligibility for services and completing unified wait list applications
  • Recruit families with partners including local medical facilities, elected officials, shelters and transitional housing, schools, NYCHA and others
  • Conduct inquiries related to documentation on file. Verify residency, income, birth date, and any other required eligibility information, complete interviews to identify income sources
  • Perform data entry including updating case file documentation at the time of intake and redetermination, and updating computerized childcare information system
  • Communicate with families and providers regarding changes in eligibility, status, income, enrollment, and providers
  • Educate parents on all determination and re-determination program requirements, rules, and responsibilities

Qualifications, Skills and Specifications:

  • Must hold a Child Development Associate Credential or Associate's Degree
  • Must demonstrate excellent understanding of NYC social services
  • Strong applicants will have experience working with infants, toddlers, and/or families with young children
  • Experience with recordkeeping, outreach, and or CBO administrative work is preferred
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish, Mandarin, or Cantonese
  • Ability to travel on public transportation or utilize own transportation for required site travel
  • Basic computer literacy and Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects and deadlines

Compensation: $27.45 per hour

*Compensation is based on credentials with DC 37 Local 205 Salary Schedule

Union Position, with generous benefits

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm, 35 hours per week
