Who We Are
WHB Engineers is a well-established and growing Civil Engineering and Construction Management firm with offices in San Diego, San Mateo, Dublin, Pleasant Hill and Chico, California. Our firm provides a full array of engineering, public works design and construction and project management services.
Our staff works on a broad array of challenging and interesting public and private projects. A career with us is an excellent opportunity to work with some of the best civil engineers and construction managers.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Engineer (Engineer IV) with a minimum of nine or more years of experience. The ideal candidate for this opportunity is a dependable and adaptable civil engineering professional, with potential to market and win work, ability to supervise a team, and carry out administrative duties. Experience in client management and sales is a plus. They demonstrate growing organizational, leadership and strong communication skills, can work independently while thriving in a team environment, and are personable and professional in their demeanor. This position is onsite and based in our San Mateo office.
Responsibilities:
  • Supervises the work of Staff Engineers
  • Assists with preparation of proposals, job performance and serving as the firm's responsible contact with various client Project Managers
  • Works to ensure projects are profitable and on schedule and meet the requirements of our clients
  • Mentoring and supporting staff
  • Maintain client relationships
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum nine or more years of demonstrated design with project management experience
  • California PE License required
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Civil 3D
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills including an ability to interact professionally and knowledgeably with clients
  • Self-motivated and goal oriented, with strong attention to detail
  • Solid experience with the MS Office Suite

We offer a generous salary and benefits package that includes company paid medical and dental insurance, vacation and a 401(k) plan. The salary range for this position is $137,000 to $160,000, depending upon experience. Only qualified candidates that meet our requirements will be contacted.
