The projects we task our interns to lead are impactful and meaningful to our organization. You'll be supported by your Manager and Mentor to gain in-depth knowledge of the adhesive industry and collaborate with various departments and functions. Position Overview:

The Engineering Intern will gain hands-on experience supporting manufacturing operations and engineering initiatives at H.B. Fuller's South Bend, Indiana facility. This role provides exposure to process engineering, technical documentation, and continuous improvement activities within a chemical manufacturing environment. The intern will partner closely with Process Engineers, Production, EHS, and Plant Leadership teams to improve process documentation, support productivity projects, and ensure operating procedures remain accurate and aligned with current practices. This internship offers a unique opportunity to develop practical engineering skills, strengthen cross-functional collaboration, and contribute to projects that drive operational excellence, safety, and business performance.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support engineering projects focused on process improvement, productivity enhancements, and operational excellence within a manufacturing facility.
  • Review, verify, and update Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) through field observations, collaboration with plant personnel, and AutoCAD revisions.
  • Evaluate opportunities for productivity and cost-savings initiatives by analyzing operational data, KPIs, and project requirements, while assisting with project planning and execution.
  • Review and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure documentation remains accurate, current, and aligned with site practices and safety requirements.
  • Partner with Engineering, Production, EHS, and Site Leadership teams to provide project updates, support continuous improvement efforts, and contribute to achieving plant objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently Pursuing bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related Engineering field
  • Minimum rising junior or senior in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related Engineering field
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications; experience with AutoCAD or technical drawing software preferred.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing and chemical processing preferred.

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, and geographic location.

The salary for this role is $22-$25 per hour.
