We are looking for an experienced Roadway Design Engineer and Project Manager to join our firm in Louisville, Kentucky. In this pivotal role, you will lead the charge in not only managing roadway design projects but also contributing to efforts toward growing our team and expanding our presence in the regional market. We provide multi-disciplined services for a variety of public agencies and private entities, including transportation design; water resources design; environmental analysis & permitting; construction engineering & inspection; traffic engineering & transportation planning; surveying; and land acquisition & appraisal. Our transportation design team offers a variety of services, but most of our work involves roadway and bridge design for various local agencies and state DOT's.

Key responsibilities of this role will include:
  • Roadway Engineering Leadership: Assist in growing and leading the roadway services in the Louisville regional area. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior level engineers to aid in their professional development. As the roadway team grows in the area, provide leadership for a high performing roadway/highway design team.
  • Project Management: Serve as a project manager for roadway/highway design projects, overseeing and participating in project execution from initiation to completion. Monitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement mitigation strategies as needed.
  • Project Delivery & Quality: Perform quality checks on work performed by project team members. Provide leadership in the planning, design, and execution of major projects. Prepare project documents, design, conduct analyses, interpret data, and plan and coordinate the engineering work to ensure timely and successful project delivery. Review and approve project deliverables, including drawings and specifications. Serve as a technical expert in roadway design engineering. Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement measures to enhance efficiency, productivity, and quality of work.
  • Client Relationship Management: Establish and maintain relationships with clients, ensuring a high level of service, communication, and client satisfaction. Collaborate with senior management on strategic planning and assists with business development. Prepare proposals and/or funding applications.
  • You may also be involved in other various responsibilities and projects in this role.

Qualifications for this role:
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Engineer (PE)
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in Roadway/Highway design engineering
  • Experience working on KYTC projects
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities
  • Experience with project management and accounting software
  • Exceptional organization skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work individually or as part of a team
