Reports To: Director of Engineering (or designated Engineering Manager)
LPL Solar is a self-perform solar EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) company specializing in the development and construction of utility-scale solar energy facilities throughout North America. Our team is committed to delivering high-quality renewable energy projects through innovation, collaboration, and operational excellence. Position Summary 
The Project Manager – Engineering is responsible for managing the engineering execution of utility-scale solar and energy storage projects from initial proposal through final drawing package delivery. This role serves as the primary liaison between clients and engineering teams, ensuring project deliverables are completed accurately, on schedule, and in accordance with project requirements. The successful candidate will combine strong technical knowledge, project management expertise, and exceptional customer service skills to deliver outstanding results. 
 
Essential Responsibilities 
 
  • Manage multiple engineering projects simultaneously from proposal through project completion. 
  • Coordinate internal and external engineering teams to deliver accurate, complete, and timely drawing plan sets and design packages. 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between LPL Solar, clients, owners, and third-party engineering partners. 
  • Prepare engineering proposals, develop project scopes, and maintain visibility into engineering backlog and resource requirements. 
  • Track project schedules, milestones, deliverables, and client requirements to ensure successful project execution. 
  • Document, monitor, and follow up on Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, design comments, and outstanding project information needs. 
  • Review engineering drawings, calculations, and design documents for quality, completeness, constructability, and accuracy. 
  • Coordinate interdisciplinary reviews with civil, structural, electrical, and energy storage design teams. 
  • Facilitate project meetings, client presentations, and design review discussions. 
  • Communicate project status, risks, and mitigation strategies to clients and internal stakeholders. 
  • Support business development efforts by assisting with technical proposals, scope development, and customer presentations. 
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relationships through responsive communication and professional service. 
  • Identify project challenges and proactively develop solutions to maintain schedule and deliverables. 
  • Maintain project documentation and ensure compliance with company standards and client requirements. 
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives supporting engineering quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. 
 
Required Qualifications 
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline. 
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project. 
  • Proficient in Blue Beam and PDF creation/editing tools. 
  • Proficient in utilizing Procore. 
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities. 
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and eager to learn. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, clients, consultants, and project stakeholders. 
  • Ability to travel as required to support client meetings and project needs. 
 
Preferred Qualifications 
  • Experience supporting utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) system design. 
  • Experience supporting battery energy storage system (BESS) design and engineering. 
  • Experience with solar civil engineering design, site layout, grading, drainage, and stormwater considerations. 
  • Familiarity with utility-scale EPC project delivery. 
  • Experience coordinating third-party engineering consultants and multidisciplinary design teams. 
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and industry practices related to solar and energy storage systems.
