Job Title:Power Generation Project ManagerLocation:Houston, TX - RemoteFLSA ClassificationExemptJob Description:Orbital Engineering is seeking a Power Generation Project Manager to support and lead multi-discipline engineering and design projects focused on power generation facilities and related infrastructure. This remote position will be based in the Houston, Texas Region and will support both regional and national projects involving new generation development, plant upgrades, balance-of-plant systems, electrical infrastructure, controls, emissions systems, and other heavy industrial applications.The ideal candidate will bring a strong combination of project management capability, technical understanding, client relationship skills, and experience supporting projects in power generation and/or other heavy industrial environments.This is a remote position, and candidates must be local to the Greater Houston area.Responsibilities Include but Are Not Limited To
  • Lead execution of engineering and design activities for assigned power generation and industrial projects through both direct involvement and coordination of multidisciplinary teams.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and deliverables throughout the full project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate and direct engineers, designers, subcontractors, and technical specialists to ensure successful project execution.
  • Support development of engineering proposals, scopes of work, project schedules, labor forecasts, and cost estimates.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong working relationships through proactive communication and issue resolution.
  • Lead internal and external project review meetings, design reviews, and progress updates.
  • Review engineering calculations, technical documents, drawings, and specifications for quality and completeness.
  • Support projects involving power generation facilities, including balance of plant systems, electrical upgrades, controls integration, emissions systems, fuel handling systems, and related infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with business development and operational leadership on proposal strategy, client pursuits, and project positioning efforts.
  • Ensure project execution complies with Orbital’s quality management system, client standards, and applicable industry codes and regulations.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, lessons learned, and development of technical standards and best practices.
  • Coordinate effectively with other Orbital service lines to deliver integrated engineering solutions.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil/Structural, Chemical, or related technical discipline).
  • Minimum of 8 years of engineering and/or project management experience in power generation, utilities, EPC, consulting engineering, or other heavy industrial environments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multidiscipline engineering projects involving complex industrial systems and client coordination.
  • Working knowledge of power generation systems, industrial facility design, or plant infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles, project controls, scheduling, budgeting, and resource coordination.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong client relationship management abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, Microsoft Project, and standard engineering/project management software tools.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to travel periodically to client sites and project locations as required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
  • Experience supporting new-build power generation projects, major plant upgrades, or owner’s engineering/EPC support activities.
  • TWIC Card holder.
  • Experience in consulting engineering environments and coordination of multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Familiarity with utility, industrial, and energy market clients within the Gulf Coast region.
Salary Range:
  • $120,000 - $180,000 (based on experience, qualifications, and location)
