Job description

Program Managers act as the primary point of contact for our customers. They oversee assigned programs to track quality, delivery, engineering, and costs, and ensure targeted on-time delivery and other customer success metrics are achieved. Program Managers interact regularly with personnel in Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality to obtain and relay information about customer orders, and interact directly (via phone, email, and sometimes in-person) with customers to provide information, promptly respond to order inquiries, and resolve disputes as needed. Professionalism and courtesy are paramount to success in this role, and Program Managers are fundamental in driving on-time delivery, compliance with customer and quality requirements, and timely communication regarding their program orders.
Essential Functions

  • Communicates professionally and courteously to convey clear and concise information to customers and coworkers via telephone, email, and in-person
  • Develops strong business relationships with assigned customers
  • Tracks program against schedule, budget, and relative to phase review objectives, providing periodic status reporting to management
  • Relays customer changes (address, locations, contacts, etc.) to appropriate team members and ensures ERP and/or CRM are updated
  • Assists Accounts Receivable staff in obtaining past due payments and mediating payment conflicts
  • Initiates certification corrections through the Quality System
  • Travels to customer sites as requested/required; hosts customer visits and coordinates meetings and tours as needed
  • Reviews and approves purchase order changes affecting contractual schedules, pricing, and expenses; manages schedule changes and schedule conflicts in collaboration with production personnel; monitors and controls non-recurring expenses (NRE) for assigned programs
  • Ensures sales orders align to committed schedule agreements with customers
  • Manages progress to expedite orders, pull-aheads, and late deliveries to ensure customer delivery expectations are met
  • Assists in rework dispositions and production flow in collaboration with the planning team
  • Manages entire statement of work for assigned program(s) and accurately forecasts monthly sales
  • Engages appropriate manufacturing personnel to ensure parts move efficiently through manufacturing operations
  • Encourages operational excellence by thinking innovatively and suggesting process improvements; may participate in continuous improvement initiatives (LEAN, Six Sigman, etc.)
  • Performs incidental duties as required
  • Regular attendance on-site at the workplace is required

Required Education and Work Experience
  • A bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or similar is required
  • A minimum of three (3) years experience in business-to-business customer service, account management/business development, or program management or similar is required.
  • Experience in a manufacturing industry is required; experience in the aerospace industry is preferred

  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality, securing customer documents and company records, and demonstrating integrity in communications and actions
  • Self-management skills including efficiency, sense of urgency, ability to adapt and respond to unexpected circumstances, and ability to juggle multiple projects, competing priorities, and meet concurrent deadlines
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills (English) are essential
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word
  • ERP experience is required; Infor Visual experience is preferred

Physical Demands and Work Environment
To perform the essential functions of the role, employees must be able to perform the following activities with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Sit for prolonged periods at a desk and work on a computer.
  • Regularly stand and walk throughout the facility, including all buildings and the manufacturing areas; occasionally navigating rough or uneven terrain
  • Regularly lift, carry (short distances), and push/pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally climb steps, stairs, or ladders.
  • Occasionally bend, crawl, stoop, squat, or kneel.

Working Conditions
Work is performed in a combination of locations including offices and the manufacturing shop environment where working conditions vary significantly; the employee will be exposed to:
  • Excessive noise (occasionally)
  • Dust, smoke, fumes/vapors (occasionally)
  • Extreme temperatures (occasionally)
  • Hazardous equipment including forklifts, hand tools, cranes or other lifting devices, complex machining centers and other equipment used in a machine shop environment (occasionally)

Travel
Occasional travel, including overnight travel, is required. Travel may be by air or ground transportation. A valid driver's license and acceptable driving history to meet insurance standards is required.
