Responsibilities

THE ROLE:

The Customer Engineering Program Manager is an integral support resource for the CGVDI & Radeon AI Customer Engineering team. The Program Manager is primarily responsible for the overall management and execution of the assigned enterprise customer programs which include planning, driving, and reporting on customer program milestones.

THE PERSON:   

  • Manage, lead and own customer program requirements and execution from concept to mass production.  
  • Manage customer programs and schedules, customer issues (business related, hardware related, software related, etc.) throughout the life of the program.  
  • Provide an effective communication interface with the customer and ensure customer message is aligned with AMD business and product strategy.    
  • Report weekly customer program status to executives and internal AMD stakeholders.     
  • Manage internal efforts to ensure that overall customer satisfaction is maintained and improved as necessary.    
  • Support the account team, business managers, sales and field application engineers to win new business.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:   

  • Manage, lead, and fully own the customer program.  Ensure that customer requirements are identified early enough to allow alignment with internal development programs.  
  • Lead an effective customer program team with internal groups within Sales, Business Manager, Product Manager, Applications Engineer, Field Applications Engineer, Board Program Manager, Software Program Manager as required.
  • Work with the customer to identify and define requirements, documents, and communicate with the internal teams.  Ensure that the program team fully understands the customer's needs and priorities to allow effective planning and prioritization with the appropriate AMD core team.  
  • Work with functional teams to clarify the scope of requirements from the customer CRDs (customer requirement documents) and ensure customer needs are included in AMD NPI product plans and are delivered according to customer's expectations (schedule, functionality, etc.). Document AMD negotiated deliverables for customer specified projects, including H/W and S/W scope, program schedules, quality programs, project plans, etc. 
  • Work with AMD leadership to ensure that technical resources are assigned to all technical issues.  Provide cross-functional partnerships among technical groups, so that schedules and customer expectations are met. Communicate and negotiate with the customer regarding support expectations and schedules for key deliverables.  
  • Define, track, and ensure timeliness of major program deliverables. Maintain an overall program schedule to highlight the major and critical milestones and risks of customer program. 
  • Monitor and report progress to executive team on product development efforts from inception to production. Ensure major account deliverables are rolled into respective product programs and present customer issues, and underlying risks at program review meetings.  
  • Participate in the coordination of AMD product changes (ECNs, BOM, Security updates) with the customer, product program management, engineering, and any other related groups until the change is fully implemented. 
  • Manage customer program meetings and customer conference calls.  Document and distribute meeting action items and action items from these meetings/calls.  Work with peer support teams to ensure that minutes/action items are properly documented and distributed.  
  • Provide input to product management to ensure smooth implementation of product lifecycle, end-of-life, input to product features, and roadmap.  
  • Drive and facilitate corrective actions and lessons learned to improve product and internal AMD processes.
  • Partner with other AMD groups to enhance and maintain customer relationships and participate as an integral member of the account team in the pre-sales activities. 
  • Participate in additional program management activities as agreed with extended support teams such as RFI/RFQ coordination, customer survey, and customer evaluation.  

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:    

  • Advanced experience in a similar technical program management role or similar customer support role.  
  • Familiar with Enterprise Operating systems, device drivers, ROCm, firmware, and BIOS.  
  • Familiar with virtualization software (Citrix, VMWare, etc) and Compute (e.g. OpenCL)  
  • Experience with GPUs and Server architecture with competencies on both hardware and software  
  • Familiar with AI and Machine Learning workloads  
  • Must possess excellent problem solving and analytical skills.  
  • Strong written, verbal communication skills, and negotiating skills.  
  • Good knowledge of program management methodologies   
  • Ability to work well with internal and external engineering experts (and non-experts) to develop practical solutions to challenging problems.  
  • Must be very detail-oriented, organized, and capable of multi-tasking in a fast-moving environment.  
  • Motivated to provide highly responsive support as needed. Must be a self-starter who is able to work independently with little supervision. 

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer/Electrical Engineering 
  • Formal project management education,PMP / Scrum Master
