About the Position:

Walters Group is seeking a Senior Microsoft Solutions Specialist to take ownership of our Microsoft ecosystem, cloud services, identity platform, and cybersecurity technologies.

This individual will serve as the organization's lead technical resource for Microsoft 365, Azure, Entra ID, Microsoft security platforms, and cloud modernization initiatives.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Vice President, Digital & Technology, the IT Infrastructure Manager, application specialists, developers, and support staff to deliver cloud, security, identity, and modernization projects across the organization.


Microsoft Platform Ownership

Administer and support:

  • Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Purview, Azure services.
  • Tenant administration and governance.
  • Identity and access management.
  • SaaS integrations and enterprise applications.
  • Licensing and platform optimization.
  • Security configuration and compliance.


Cloud & Security

Lead implementation and support of:

  • Azure cloud services, Conditional Access, Multi-factor authentication, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Insider Risk Management, Security monitoring and remediation, Security awareness and phishing initiatives.
  • Partner with internal and external resources to improve the organization's cybersecurity posture and support implementation of security frameworks such as NIST.


Modernization & Technical Projects

Lead Microsoft-related infrastructure and cloud projects including:

  • Windows Server upgrades and migrations. Microsoft 365 consolidations and migrations. Identity modernization projects. SQL Server deployments and upgrades. Cloud storage, backup, and recovery initiatives


Collaboration & Technical Leadership

  • Provide technical guidance to IT team members.
  • Work closely with Infrastructure, Development, and Business Systems teams.
  • Participate in project planning, architecture reviews, and technology evaluations.
  • Assist with standards, best practices, and technical documentation.
  • Support strategic technology initiatives across Walters Group and Dave Steel Company.

Work Location:

  • Head Office, Hamilton ON.


Position Requirements:

  • 7-10+ years of enterprise IT experience, including significant responsibility for Microsoft cloud, infrastructure, security, and identity platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience acting as a technical lead or primary owner
    for Microsoft 365 and Azure environments.
  • Proven experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise Microsoft solutions across multiple business units, locations, or complex environments.
  • Experience in SQL Server administration and troubleshooting
  • Ability to independently lead technical projects from planning and design through implementation, testing, and production support.
  • Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments.
