Job description

This position can be performed in either Groton, Connecticut or Golden, Colorado.

The Engineering Manager is the primary technical point of contact for assigned customers regarding projects and technical proposals. Manages, directs, and executes technical projects both internally at RPS and for external customers while ensuring compliance with various quality program requirements and technical specifications. Oversees the full life cycle of technical projects, from conception to delivery and installation. Supports and adjusts existing product lines as needed.

Job Description-

  • Essential Job Functions:
  • Service accounts for assigned customers, including:
  • Quoting and technical proposal development
  • Project management
  • Customer communication
  • Vendor liaison
  • Scheduling
  • Assembly and testing (as needed)
  • Quality functions
  • Documentation
  • Responsible for proposal development, engineering, costing and technical descriptions.
  • Responsible for Engineering & Production documentation for assigned projects
  • Engagement with various core production orders from contract review to shipping.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Manages Direct reports including technical resources
  • Responsible for project delivery including coordination of all project resources
  • Performs 1-on-1’s and responsible for direct reports performance and development, 3-8 direct reports
  • All Other duties as assigned.

Essential Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge of project management principals involved in coordinating, scheduling and directing projects.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals for production of technical plans, drawings, models and ultimately fabrication and testing as needed.
  • Knowledge of various quality assurance requirements as they apply to RPS products and design control.
  • Ability to lead and direct internal personnel and subcontractors to ensure project fulfillment.
  • Qualifications and Education Requirements:
  • BS in Engineering or related technical field
  • 7 years of engineering experience in relevant field
  • 5-10 years of Project Management experience
  • Knowledge of CAD systems, AutoCAD and Solidworks
  • Microsoft office and Project tracking experience
  • Able to function in a dynamic fast-moving environment
  • Preferred:
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering with experience in industrial controls and knowledge of industrial power systems
  • Industrial ventilation background
  • Radiological containment background and experience
