You will play a key role in aligning engineering priorities with business goals, customer expectations, quality standards, and manufacturing needs, while fostering a culture of technical excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of engineers, including design and applications engineers, to promote technical excellence, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Guide engineering priorities to ensure alignment with business objectives, customer expectations, quality standards, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Drive improvements in engineering processes, documentation, standard work, design controls, and project management practices to enhance efficiency and consistency.
  • Act as the primary technical interface with customer engineering teams, clarifying requirements, addressing questions, and resolving technical issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate closely with manufacturing, sales, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure design feasibility, regulatory compliance, and smooth transition of products into production.
  • Review technical work products and support formal design reviews to ensure engineering outputs meet quality, safety, regulatory, and customer requirements.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, knowledge sharing, practical problem solving, and customer-focused engineering support across the engineering team.
  • Apply strong technical judgment to guide engineering decisions, troubleshoot complex design and manufacturing issues, and support practical, manufacturable solutions.
  • Support continuous process improvement initiatives within engineering and across functions, particularly in manufacturing and custom engineering environments.
  • Engage regularly with customers to understand their needs, manage expectations, and ensure a high level of satisfaction with engineering support and delivered solutions.
  • Oversee day-to-day engineering activities and workload for a team of approximately four direct reports, including two design engineers and two applications engineers.
  • Support and uphold compliance with relevant EX, UL, IECEx, and ISO/UL 9001-related standards and practices where applicable.
  • Champion safe work practices and adherence to quality systems within the engineering function and in collaboration with the machine shop and manufacturing teams.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • Progressive engineering experience in a manufacturing, industrial, product design, or technical production environment.
  • Prior people management or technical team leadership experience.
  • Strong technical background with the ability to guide engineering decisions and support practical design and manufacturing solutions.
  • Experience with manufacturing and custom engineering environments.
  • Experience with product design and engineering management.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex engineering and manufacturing issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective cross-functional collaboration and customer engagement.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with continuous process improvement initiatives.
  • Experience interacting directly with customers on technical topics.
  • Familiarity with EX certification, UL standards, and IECEx standards.
  • Experience with enclosure manufacturing or similar engineered products.
  • Proficiency with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD tools.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Engineering or a related technical field is preferred.
  • Knowledge of enclosure product lines is highly desirable.
  • EX, UL, and/or IECEx certifications are highly desirable.
  • Experience working within ISO and UL 9001 quality systems.

  • Interest in ongoing professional development, including advanced degrees (MS/PhD) and technical certifications, supported through tuition and certification reimbursement programs.

Work Environment

The role is based in a pristine machine shop and engineering environment that supports ISO and UL 9001 standards, with exposure to manual machining and a steady flow of new products. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and the facility is fully closed on weekends, supporting a strong work–life balance. The Engineering Manager oversees a team of approximately four direct reports, including design and applications engineers, and collaborates closely with manufacturing, sales, quality, and supply chain teams. Some minimal travel may be required, with advance notice provided. The organization offers a stable, long-term growth environment with opportunities to create new specialist roles, wear multiple hats, and have a broad impact. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $130000.00/yr.
