Business Development Engineer
Location:
Field Based with Regular Travel
Ram Jack is seeking a motivated and technically skilled Business Development Engineer to support business growth and market expansion for our engineered product lines. This role serves as a technical ambassador to engineers, contractors, specifiers, and related industries by promoting product capabilities, providing design guidance, and strengthening brand awareness.
The ideal candidate will combine engineering expertise with strategic business development to support project design, increase product specifications, and grow long term market presence. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in both technical and relationship driven environments and is comfortable working in the field, at customer sites, and alongside the internal teams.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Market Expansion
  • Promote engineered products to consulting engineers, contractors, architects, and industry partners to increase product specifications and market visibility
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective clients to support long-term sales growth
  • Identify new market segments, project opportunities, and strategic partnerships
  • Collaborate with internal sales teams to convert technical engagement into sales opportunities

Technical Presentations & Industry Engagement
  • Deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and educational sessions to engineering firms, contractors, and industry organizations
  • Represent the company at trade shows, industry events, project meetings, and training sessions
  • Serve as a technical resource during early-stage design discussions and project development

Project Design & Proposal Support
  • Provide engineering guidance for project design, specifications, and system integration involving company products
  • Assist with project proposals, design layouts, technical documentation, and supporting calculations when required
  • Support contractors and engineers during bidding and submittal phases with accurate product information

Product Development & Technical Consultation
  • Contribute to new product development through field feedback, market insights, and engineering recommendations
  • Assist with product testing, performance verification, and certification packages
  • Provide technical input for website content, marketing materials, specification guides, and product literature

Travel Requirements
  • Frequent travel required for customer meetings, jobsite visits, presentations, trade shows, and industry events
  • Estimated travel: 30-50%, depending on territory coverage and project demands
  • Ability to travel independently and manage an active field schedule

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Industrial, or related field) preferred
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred, but not required
  • 3-7 years of experience in engineering, technical sales, or business development within construction, manufacturing, or engineered product industries
  • Experience with construction documents, specifications, and technical submittals preferred
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Ability to independently manage territory planning, customer engagement, and project follow-up
