Osborn is a multi-discipline team of engineers and designers in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection/life safety, technology, structural, civil, transportation and commissioning. Osborn Engineering is seeking a Department Manager with 10+ years of experience to manage the Mechanical Engineering group. This position will report to the Director of Mechanical Engineering. The ideal candidate would have team and client management experience in a consulting engineering environment.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Work with Project Managers throughout the company to provide appropriate resources to successfully execute projects.
  • Establish discipline specific work plans and estimates to complete for department staff assigned projects
  • Oversee the production of work product consistent with client requirements and Osborn standards.
  • Supervise efficient execution of projects and staff to meet the performance metrics and goals of the department.
  • Manage expectations and communications with clients for projects providing engineering and technical support.
  • Execute Osborn's QA/QC process for the mechanical discipline on projects.
  • Maintain backlogs and manpower forecasts to ensure proper staffing levels and department utilization.
  • Perform staff resource management and annual reviews including Timesheet and Expense report approvals.
  • Assist Human Resources on recruitment and training efforts.
  • Conduct business development activities, participating in various trade organizations, and preparing or assisting with presentations.

Job Requirements/Qualifications:
  • 10+ Years' Experience in Mechanical Design in Consulting Engineering.
  • Ability to work and manage several project teams concurrently.
  • Ability to promote department and staff career growth.
  • Knowledge of mechanical design and load calculation software such as Revit, IES VE, HAP, TRACE.
  • Knowledge of local and national building codes and design practices.
  • Knowledge of standard construction practices and the ability to work with contractors to address construction issues.
  • Experience in designing Healthcare, Sports, Commercial, Public Sector, Industrial, Education, and/or Institutional projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Preferred.
  • PE License Preferred.
