An Industrial Engineering Intern at UPS works on targeted projects individually, or in small teams. Projects require operational observations, data collection, cross functional communication, and problem solving. All completed projects will be presented to the Industrial Engineering staff upon completion.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Projects include, but are not limited to:

  • Work Measurement in Master Standard Data (MSD)

  • Cost benefit analysis

  • Process improvement analysis

  • Operational planning

  • Exploring and applying Artificial Intelligence (AI), automation, and data analytics tools to improve operational efficiency and support engineering initiatives

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Knowledge of Industrial Engineering and/or Engineering related discipline

  • Effective statistical analysis skills

  • Effective research and communication skills

  • Enthusiasm, idealism, creativity and dedication to getting results

  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently

  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively across business units

  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National of the U.S., an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer

  • Employer will not sponsor a visa for this or future positions

  • Must be currently located in the same geographic location as the internship or willing to relocate yourself

  • Current student enrolled in a degreed college/university program, or recent graduate from a degreed college/university program within the past 24 months

  • Must be available to work 40 hours per week.

For Non-Union Intern/Co-Op Positions:

  • Pay Range Estimate: $16.00 - $33.44 per hour

    • Note: Actual Compensation offered to candidate may vary within range based upon geographic location and education. The pay rate will be finalized at the offer stage.

  • 401(k) retirement program - eligible at 90 days of employment

  • Personal time

  • Discounted Employee Stock Purchase Program - eligible at 6 months of employment

Pay Range:

Pay for this internship is based on several factors, including but not limited to geographic location, education level, and course of study. The base pay ranges from $13.35/hour to $30.00/hour for Undergraduate Interns or $22.60/hour to $52.00/hour for Postgraduate Interns. Hired applicants may be eligible for 401(k) retirement program, Discounted Employee Stock Purchase Program, and personal time.
