Job description

Join our team as a Design Engineering Manager, where you will lead a team of design engineers responsible for developing custom hardware solutions that meet customer needs while ensuring quality, compliance, and operational excellence.

In this role, you will oversee engineering design activities from concept through testing and documentation while managing engineering resources, collaborating with cross‑functional teams, and supporting the successful delivery of customized products. You'll serve as a key technical leader working closely with Sales, Project Management, Operations, Quality, Purchasing, and Manufacturing to bring innovative solutions to life.

How Will You Make an Impact?
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Design Engineers responsible for custom hardware development.
  • Review and approve engineering specifications, drawings, test plans, and technical documentation.
  • Manage engineering schedules, project forecasts, and custom hardware deliverables.
  • Translate customer requirements into practical, cost‑effective engineering solutions.
  • Prepare cost estimates and technical specifications for customized hardware components.
  • Partner with Sales to define and validate customer design requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance throughout the design, testing, and product development process.
  • Coordinate with vendors and manufacturers to resolve technical questions and support product development.
  • Oversee hardware testing to ensure designs meet performance and quality requirements.
  • Develop and maintain engineering SOPs, templates, and documentation supporting Quality and Regulatory standards.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and company procedures.
  • Collaborate with Project Management, Purchasing, Operations, Quality, Service, and Warehouse teams to support successful project execution.
  • Monitor project priorities while balancing multiple engineering initiatives in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Promote a culture of safety by ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across engineering processes and documentation.
What You Bring
  • Strong mechanical design and drafting expertise with knowledge of engineering and manufacturing standards.
  • Experience creating and reviewing mechanical drawings, specifications, and test plans.
  • Proficiency with CAD and Product Lifecycle Management software, including Creo, Pro/Engineer (Pro/E), and Windchill.
  • Strong understanding of automation components, robotics, and instrumentation systems.
  • Experience using instrument control software for hardware testing and validation.
  • Proven ability to estimate engineering effort, manage priorities, and meet project deadlines.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience coaching and developing engineering teams.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non‑technical teams.
  • Strong customer‑facing skills with the ability to translate business needs into engineering solutions.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Your Background
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a minimum of eight (8) years of related engineering experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience with solid modeling and mechanical drawing creation.
  • Experience with robotics is required.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation systems is required.
  • Previous technical or engineering management experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated success working directly with customers on technical solutions.
  • Experience leading engineering projects in a manufacturing, automation, or custom equipment environment preferred.
Salary Range

Salary Range: $130K–$150K
