Job description

Position Description
Manages and oversees all activities relating to manufacturing engineering in a plant, including major projects and process improvement, tool design, and manufacturing engineering support for all new and existing product development.
Job Responsibilities
  1. Develops and implements plans that address quality improvements and cost reductions
  2. Develops capital and expense budgeting; develops a comprehensive department operating plan with strategies and tactics to achieve goals and objectives in a timely manner
  3. Develops and maintains project and engineering timelines
  4. Identifies, evaluates and presents new technical developments
  5. Provides corporate assistance for new products, Engineering Change Order/Engineering Change Request (ECO/ECR) reviews
  6. Prepares monthly status reports for new engine/product review
  7. Performs full range of managerial responsibilities which may include but not be limited to: interviewing, hiring, coaching and developing employees; planning, assigning and directing work; EEO/AA; performance management; department budget
  8. Performs other duties as assigned

Job Skills Requirements
  • Well-developed planning and organizational skills to effectively handle multiple priorities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of machining methods and assembly processes
  • Working knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing and AutoCad programs
  • Ability to prepare and present technical information
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills to lead teams and effectively communicate with diverse groups of people
  • Working knowledge of Briggs & Stratton products which may include internal combustion engines and the B&S manufacturing environment
  • Must have strong project management and leadership skills
  • Fluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or location

Education
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent education and experience
Experience Requirements
Minimum of seven years of technical services management experience in a high volume production environment
