Job description

Brief Description of Job Duties:

Under limited supervision, perform standard drafting assignments based on work orders provided. Make adjustments in drawings or specifications. Prepare working plans, detailed drawings, and complete mechanical or electrical drawings for components and assemblies. Works from notes, verbal instructions, and rough or detailed sketches for engineering or manufacturing purposes. Verify completed work and check dimensions, materials to be used, and quantities.

Primary duties include, but are not limited to: 

  • Engineering Change Control Coordinator - Manage engineering changes (ECO) through the approval and release cycle using an online system. Duties also include chairing the weekly Change Control Board (CCB) meeting.
  • Drafting duties - Create Assemblies and Fabrication drawings (light to medium complexity) using SolidWorks and AutoCAD software.
  • Check drawings and BOM’s for correctness
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

The applicant MUST have the following qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) combined with relevant on-the-job experience.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a CAD drafting environment using PLM systems.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience creating assembly drawings, fabrication drawings, Bills of Materials (BOM), and Engineering Change Orders (ECO).
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in CAD drafting environment working to the drafting room standard manual.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience working with 3D CAD drafting tools
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, the manufacturing team, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

Mental Qualifications:

  • Ability to interpret and visualize complex technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong attention to detail and spatial reasoning skills.
  • Proficient in problem-solving and critical thinking.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively with engineers.
  • Competency in using CAD software and other design tools.

Physical Qualifications:

  • Ability to sit at a desk or workstation for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient for operating computer equipment and drafting tools.
  • Clear vision (with or without corrective lenses) for close-up design and reading technical documents.
  • Occasionally, may be required to walk through our manufacturing environment.


Additional Desirable Experience:

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and efficiency in both computer-based and administrative tasks.
  • Experience using AutoCAD software to create, modify, and maintain technical drawings and engineering documentation.
  • Familiarity with Arena PLM/Empower systems for managing product lifecycle data, engineering changes, and documentation.
  • Knowledge of IPC standards and their application to engineering drawings, documentation, and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience working in a drafting room environment with an understanding of drafting standards, procedures, and best practices.
