Job description

A Project Manager Assistant in the Transportation Department supports the Program Manager (PGM) and Project Manager (PM) on the GDOT Program Management Contracts (PMCs) and the Prime consultant client for each of the GDOT programs including (Traffic & Safety, Bridge, Innovative Delivery, and TAP.)

Responsibilityย 

  1. Assist the PM in managing consultantโ€™s designing transportation projects including but not limited to roadway design, bridge design, transportation planning, and environmental.
  2. Assist the PM in managing the consultant's preparation of engineering reports, plans and specifications for major and minor projects.
  3. Assist the PM in managing the consultant's preparing and review of preliminary and final plans and technical specifications, contract documents and estimates, and make recommendations for additions, deletions and substitutions when modifications are necessary.
  4. Assist the PM in contract bidding and administration as needed.
  5. Assist the PM in supervising and observing the navigation of a design project through the client's process including the coordination of the project with City, State and County officials and other outside agencies.
  6. Assist the PM in coordinating projects with clients, contractors, consultants and firm staff.
  7. Assist the PM in communicating and interacting with project team members, client representatives, review agencies and others as appropriate for the project.
  8. Assist the PM in meeting GDOTโ€™s and client's goals regarding reporting metrics for the program.
  9. Knowledge of standard office practices and procedures.
  10. Ability to complete multiple tasks as assigned such as letters, memos, cost estimates, project correspondence and other project related items as required.
  11. Ability to learn Georgia Department of Transportation policies and procedures.
  12. Ability to learn standard operations, policies and procedures of a firm, preferably within the A/E industry.
  13. Ability to operate office equipment such as personal computers, calculators, and copiers.
  14. Skill in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  15. Ability to demonstrate strong attention to detail.
  16. Ability to demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills.
  17. Ability to build and maintain excellent interpersonal relationships.
  18. Ability to work independently on multiple tasks without immediate and constant supervision.
  • Four (4) year college degree, preferably in the field of engineering.
  • May be required to have additional experience for some assignments.
  • Transportation project experience is preferred but not required.ย
