Job description

Division:  Engineering (ENG003)

MKR Engineering General Maintenance 3C
 
 

Primary Responsibilities:   Basic maintenance, repair and installation of electrical, mechanical, plumbing systems assigned under general supervision.  Respond to trouble calls, assist in setting up equipment for special events; assist higher rated maintenance personnel.  Perform all duties of subordinate positions.  Keep logs and records.  May direct subordinate employees.  Check performance of equipment as assigned and report deficiencies.

Essential Duties:

  1. Perform basic electrical, mechanical, plumbing work related to maintenance and upkeep of the hotel building and its related fixtures and functions under general supervision.
  2. Provide electrical, mechanical and carpentry support for function set-ups for clients and guests.
  3. Perform maintenance and repair for guest room trouble calls, and other areas of the hotel.
  4. Perform assignments directed by higher classified maintenance personnel.
  5. Perform routine repairs or preventive maintenance tasks.
  6. Complete work assignments in a timely manner.
  7. Follow safety procedures and standards.
  8. Care and clean all tools and equipment.
  9. Assist all other engineers as required.
  10. Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

Other Duties:

  1. Train and direct lower grade personnel.
  2. Keep work area clean and orderly.
  3. Calibrate equipment.

Working Conditions: 

  1. Work in various areas throughout the hotel; guest rooms, offices, public areas, kitchen, storerooms, etc.
  2. Anywhere in need of repair and maintenance.
  3. May work in small cramped areas, with no air conditioning or limited ventilation.
  4. May work in refrigerated area or equipment.
  5. May work in high or elevated areas.

 

Work Hours:

  1. Ability to work shift and days designated by the Director of Engineering, Assistant, Supervisor or Operations Assistant
  2. Must be able to work in excess of 40 hours per week.

 

Equipment Use:

  1. Ability to use the telephone and radio.
  2. Ability to use various office equipment including but not limited to calculators, photocopiers and facsimile machines.
  3. Ability to use repair and maintenance tools and equipment, i.e., screwdriver, nut driver, channel locks, side cutter, wench, wire stripper, utility knife, tape ruler, ladder, hammer, drill, level, electrical tester, safety glasses, gloves, paint brushes, toilet plunger, flashlight, head light, scraper,
  4. Cart or wagon, utility cart, vehicle

Mental and Physical Demands:

  1. Ability to prioritize and organize workload.
  2. Able to manage stressful and challenging situations.
  3. Able to stand and walk during most of shift.
  4. Able to end, squat, stoop, lay down, each, climb ladders to perform repair, maintenance ad installation work.
  5. Lift/carry and push/pull up to and over 50 lbs.

 

Communication Demands:

  1. Must have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing to employees, managers and guests/clients.
  2. Ability to communicate over the phone or radio.

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

  1. 2 year college or 3 years related work experience.
  2. Must be able to read and understand technical manuals, work orders, written instruction, etc.
  3. Ability to multi-task.
  4. Driver’s License when operating vehicle
