Position:Director of Engineering

Location:Honolulu, HI

Pay: $105,000 to $125,000/year + corporate bonus!

Experience:

  1. Previous experience as a Director of Engineering, Assistant Director of Engineering, Chief Engineer, or in a similar engineering leadership role required.
  2. 3+ years of relevant engineering leadership experience; additional experience may qualify candidates for the higher end of the salary range.
  3. Experience leading engineering operations within a large hotel, resort, vacation ownership, or hospitality environment required.

Education:High school diploma or equivalent required.

Job Description:

  1. Lead and oversee all engineering and maintenance operations, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety, mechanical rooms, and building systems.
  2. Provide handsโ€‘on, visible leadership to the engineering team and ensure effective scheduling, training, performance, and daily operations.
  3. Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs to maintain property assets and minimize equipment downtime.
  4. Oversee capital improvement, renovation, construction, and other engineering projects from planning through completion.
  5. Manage department budgets, expenses, forecasting, and financial performance while ensuring resources are used effectively.
  6. Coordinate engineering operations across multiple towers, facilities, and projects in a large-scale resort environment.
  7. Respond calmly and decisively to maintenance issues, emergencies, and other 24/7 operational needs.
  8. Work collaboratively with ownership, HOA representatives, General Management, executive leadership, vendors, and other departments.
  9. Manage relationships with unionโ€‘represented employees and support positive labor relations.
  10. Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, building, and lifeโ€‘safety requirements.
  11. Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, sustainability, guest experience, and overall property performance.
  12. Provide longโ€‘term leadership and stability while supporting the continued development and advancement of the engineering team.

Position Requirements:

  1. Experience managing budgets, capital projects, renovations, and preventive maintenance programs.
  2. Experience working with unionโ€‘represented teams strongly preferred.
  3. Hawaiสปi resort experience strongly preferred.
  4. Experience with multiโ€‘tower or largeโ€‘scale resorts with 200+ rooms preferred.
  5. Hotel renovation, construction, or opening experience is a strong plus.
  6. Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, lifeโ€‘safety, and building systems.
  7. CPO, LEED, PMP, or similar certifications are desirable but not required.
  8. Tagalog fluency is a plus.
  9. Must currently reside in Hawaiสปi or have established independent relocation plans (no relocation assistance is available).
