Summary of Position: The College of Engineering & Technology at Ferris State University seeks a diverse group of outstanding applicants for a 9-month, full-time, tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor position within the Department of Construction Technology & Management. Primary responsibilities include teaching and advising students in a four-year BS Construction Management program (accredited by the American Council for Construction Education - ACCE) and its two-year AAS program - Building Construction Technology & Management. Teaching assignments will be from a wide range of construction technology and construction management topics.
โ€ข Candidates are expected to foster a meaningful learning experience for our students, faculty are expected to be student-oriented, advise, and integrate current technology into the learning environment.
โ€ข Additionally, faculty will participate in collaborative efforts to foster curricular efforts, participate in assessment of student learning, and further develop programmatic enhancement.
โ€ข Specifically, we expect the candidate to be willing to engage students outside the classroom, support and expand our existing academic initiatives, and be willing to mentor students beyond a traditional academic advising role.
โ€ข In support of teaching, candidates will engage in scholarly/professional activities and participate in department, college, and university committees.
โ€ข Off-campus and online teaching may be required.
โ€ข Courses are to be taught in person on one of Ferris State University's Campuses. The candidate(s) selected for the position must reside in Michigan after acceptance of employment and will perform duties at a Ferris site.

Required Education: 1. Master's degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Construction Technology, Architectural Engineering or appropriate related field AND five years full-time US construction experience (commercial or industrial). OR
2. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Construction Technology, Architectural Engineering or appropriate related field AND an MBA plus eight years full-time US construction experience (commercial or industrial) with increasing levels of responsibility OR
3. Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Construction Technology, Architectural Engineering or appropriate related field and eight years full-time US construction experience (commercial or industrial) with increasing levels of responsibility. A Master's degree in field or an approved related field will be required prior to tenure.
If a candidate has a PhD in Construction Engineering or Construction Management, the Bachelor's or Master's degree must be in Construction Engineering or Construction Management and five years full-time construction experience (commercial or industrial) is required.
Required Work Experience: Required work experience is based on the degree attained. See Required Education field.
Minimum five years of higher education teaching experience, including an award of tenure for the rank of Associate Professor.
Higher-level degree (PhD) in Construction Management or a closely related degree requires five years of full-time US construction experience (commercial or industrial).

Additional Education/Experiences to be Considered: Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated industry experience applying BIM, VDC, artificial intelligence, and related construction technologies in professional practice.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities: โ€ข Teach full-time during the 9-month academic year. Full-time status is defined by the faculty contract with the university and currently is defined as 24 credit hours or 36 contact hours per academic year but may be limited by contact hours or student credit hours per the contract.
โ€ข Recruitment of students (including Dawg Days, Admitted Student Days, visits to high schools or career tech centers, and other University-outreach events) will occur throughout the academic year and include some Saturdays.
โ€ข Serve on program committees and represent the program(s) on College and University committees.
โ€ข Collaborate with faculty on curriculum development, assessment, and quality assurance. โ€ข Candidate is expected to teach face-to-face on the main campus in Big Rapids. There may be opportunities in the future to teach some courses online or at the Grand Rapids campus.
โ€ข Teach and coordinate elective courses in areas of expertise; assignments are made based upon faculty expertise and faculty load.
โ€ข Course assignments may include any course taught within the program.
โ€ข Collaborate in design and implementation of additional undergraduate and graduate degrees.
โ€ข Maintain records and conduct assessment and advising in accordance with policies and procedures developed by the university, college, school, department, and/or program.
โ€ข Perform duties in accordance with established University policies.
โ€ข Act as liaison between the program and professional organizations through active, individual involvement and, potentially as the program-appointed representative.
โ€ข Enthusiastically support student success through active involvement with individual students, student organizations, and student competitions, both within and outside of the classroom.
โ€ข Remain current in the profession, both in content and licensure (if holding such licenses is considered important in the position).
โ€ข The position reports to the Director of the School of Built Environment (through the Program Coordinator) and the Dean.
โ€ข Support, promote, and develop University student enrollment and retention initiatives.
โ€ข Cultivate an environment of belonging that values, respects, supports, and celebrates individual similarities and differences, allowing students, faculty and staff to thrive authentically.
