About The Position

The ADMS Solution Specialist is responsible for supporting and coordinating the operation of the Advanced Distribution Management System (SCADA, Outage Management, Electronic Mapping, and Switching), supporting Distribution Automation Technologies, and other Distribution Control technologies (Callout, SED, etc.). The ADMS Solution Consultant provides engineering support to distribution control in all phases of maintenance, operations, design and modifications of the ADMS for safe reliable operation of the distribution grid. The ADMS Solution Specialist will also provide technical support to the Distribution Control offices and staff in the use of these technologies in operation of the electric distribution system.

Key responsibilities include:

  • SCADA Modeling
  • Create and maintain HMI screens
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, design documents, and standard operating procedures
  • Real-time technical and user support for distribution operations including storm duty and rotating on-call support
  • Analyze, recommend, design, plan, test, implement and support ADMS
  • Perform system/data analysis, design enhancements, test system functionality, and maintain application configuration settings of the ADMS applications
  • Engage with ADMS vendor, user groups, and utility peers to ensure Ameren's requirements are incorporated into future enhancements
  • Provide input into technological process/standards/ methodology for on-prem, hybrid, and cloud-based configuration; identifies gaps and develops training plans
  • Enable and maintain advanced applications including State Estimation, Power Flow, FLISR, Switching, Outage Management
  • Resolve high-impact, critical issues impacting real-time operations.
  • Collaborate with teams across the enterprise, external partners, and vendors to guide functional, technical, and business requirements.
  • Perform electric distribution engineering analysis using the ADMS advanced applications and maintain ADMS advanced applications to confirm proper operation and/or identify improvements.
  • Support Distribution Automation engineering needs such as selection of equipment, development of standards and maintenance procedures, design of local communications network, development of relay and self- healing settings.
  • Support Volt-Var Optimization efforts including overall system design, Advanced Application Software, and field device design, implementation, and commissioning.
  • Provide technical support to Company and Department Leadership, the Superintendents and Supervisors of Distribution Control, as well as guidance and technical support to the Distribution System Operating Supervisors.
  • Support Ameren Cyber security needs as related to Distribution Automation and the ADMS system.
  • Conduct activities on a daily basis which include administering the ADMS system, implementing new RTU's and programming SCADA, developing reports, and providing departmental training.
  • Collaborate with IT, Engineering, Division and Substation personnel to track projects, coordinate system expansion and maintenance activities related to Distribution Operations Technologies.
  • Provide technical support to the Reliability Engineering functions as related to Distribution Operations Technologies.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science Degree required, preferably in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science. One or more years of directly related experience preferred. Recent graduates will be considered.

Additional Information

Ameren's selection process includes a series of interviews and may include a leadership assessment process. Specific details will be provided to qualified candidates. Position will require on-call (after hours and weekend) responsibility.

Compensation Range:

$71,100.00 - $172,200.00

* This pay range encompasses multiple levels of the role. Career level and compensation depends upon applicant's credentials.

At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
