Job description

We are looking for: Lab Technician
  • The principal function of this position is to provide accurate and timely analysis of all routine and non-routine raw materials, in-process, and finished product samples.
  • Performs duties in a manner that supports the site's HSE, quality and business key objectives. Support advancement initiatives in the areas of Safety, Zero Defect, Customer Focus and Operations Improvement through utilization of a continuous improvement culture. Ensure strict adherence to site quality policy and procedures.
  • Lead selected operational improvement initiatives as assigned.

We can count on you to:
  • Perform all routine and non-routine analysis required by the site.
  • Ensure compliance with the Integrated Management System (IMS) requirements
  • Interact with site personnel to resolve issues with products, raw materials, and resale product Certificates of Analyses (COA's).
  • Understand and work with a variety of computer software packages including MS Word, MS Excel, LabWare LIMS, and data collection software.
  • Participate in the development and validation of analytical methods.
  • Maintain and progress 5S, visual workplace, housekeeping, and lab improvement tasks.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain the lab instrumentation such as GCs, HPLCs, IC, Total Organic Carbon Analyzer, ICP, pH Meters, FTIR, various spectrophotometers, titrators, etc.
  • Effectively communicate between shifts and supervision regarding difficult technical questions that may arise.
  • Recognize and suggest resolution to method problems.
  • Recognize and properly communicate process upsets.
  • Team member of the Emergency Response Team with the ability to carry out First Responder duties.
  • Follow and adhere to all site and regulatory requirements including proper handling of laboratory waste.
  • Conformance to all safety, quality, customer, regulatory and statutory requirements.
  • Within six (6) months of employment, complete various training for regulatory requirements and hazardous waste management procedures relevant to this position and complete any required refresher training thereafter. This position may further include responding to emergencies, requiring familiarization with emergency procedures, emergency equipment, and emergency systems.   • Other duties as assigned.

  • Associates Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Preferred: Bachelor of Science Chemistry or other related field
  • Must be able to interact and communicate with production personnel and supervision.
  • Must be able to provide accurate and timely analytical results while dealing with multiple and ever-changing priorities.
  • Must have a high degree of initiative and actively seek new tasks and job responsibilities.

Reporting Relationship:
  • Reports directly to the Laboratory Supervisor.
  • Interacts regularly with production employees, including Operations Engineers, Operations Manager, hourly employees, Procurement, Logistics, HSE & Quality Manager, and Site Technical Engineers

  • The U.S. base annual salary reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $65,000 - $70,000/annually. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
