About the Role
Infrastructure Engineering Inc. (IEI) New York and New Jersey Offices are looking for an experienced Project Engineer - Civil to join our Team for a project in Manhattan! We are a leading engineering firm known for quality, responsiveness, and a proven track record of success as a Prime civil engineering firm.
As the Project Engineer - Civil, the candidate will focus on technical areas which include roadway/site design, pavement design, aviation airside and landside design, site design, passenger and freight rail design, utility design, stormwater design and Environmental regulatory compliance/permitting. You will be responsible for applying intensive and diversified knowledge of civil engineering principles and practices in broad areas.
In addition, you will use advanced techniques, theory precepts, and practices in the civil engineering field and related sciences and disciplines; and this lead position will give technical direction over a group of civil engineers and/or functions as a technical specialist, formulating and developing advanced civil engineering concepts. Essential Responsibilities/Experience and Skills:
• At Least two (2) years of relevant highway/site design experience, and a total of 4 years engineering design experience
• Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D software application
• Experience preparing contract documents, specifications, and estimates
• Familiarity with AASHTO and/or similar guidelines
• Conducts constructability reviews and assists in the design/planning/review of civil engineering design projects.
• Coordinates technical and administrative activities with other disciplines and other departments.
• Markets the firm's capabilities within the civil engineering specialty to establish new clients and enhance relationships with existing clients.
• May supervise civil engineering and support personnel; evaluates performance; assigns and schedules work; establish project priorities and standards.
• Perform QA/QC of plans, calculations, specifications, and quantities as per IEI QA/QC plan.
• Serve as a public relations ambassador - Be proactive in presenting and communicating the capabilities and strengths of the company to the public.
• Take the initiative in developing and/or refining existing templates and procedures to streamline effort for the entire team.
• Take time to train and mentor colleagues on acquired skill sets to improve overall team quality and performance.

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering college or university.
• At least seven (7) years of relevant civil design experience. Project management may be considered relevant depending on the nature of work. Note, Construction management will not be considered relevant experience.
• Professional Engineering (PE) License in either New York or New Jersey required.
• Proven leadership skills with engineering staff and organizations.
• Strong team player in a multi-disciplinary environment who can work on and contribute to several projects simultaneously.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
• Familiarity of various forms of construction project delivery methods (i.e - DBB, DB, etc.)
• Ability to read and understand contract documents including drawings, specifications and provisions of work.
• Familiarity with Port Authority Civil Design Guidelines, federal/state/local regulations and typical codes and standards.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
• Valid driver's license.
• Proficient communication skills and use of common software applications including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook)
