PATE ACE HOME AND HARDWARE: Opening for a Highly Skilled Small Engine Mechanic - Specializing in Stihl Repair

Position Summary

We are seeking a knowledgeable and dependable Small Engine Repair Technician with experience servicing and repairing outdoor power equipment, specializing in STIHL products. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, customer-focused, and committed to delivering high-quality repairs while maintaining manufacturer standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain STIHL outdoor power equipment, including:
  • Chainsaws
  • Trimmers
  • Blowers
  • Hedge trimmers
  • Pole saws
  • Cut-off machines
  • Pressure washers and other STIHL equipment
  • Perform warranty repairs in accordance with STIHL guidelines and requirements.
  • Assemble, inspect, and prepare new equipment for sale.
  • Complete preventative maintenance services, including tune-ups, carburetor adjustments, fuel system repairs, ignition diagnostics, and engine rebuilds.
  • Order and manage replacement parts while maintaining accurate repair documentation.
  • Communicate repair estimates, timelines, and recommendations to customers and store management.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Stay current on STIHL products, technology, and service bulletins through ongoing training and certification.
  • Assist customers with basic operation, maintenance, and safety information when needed.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience repairing small engines and outdoor power equipment preferred.
  • Experience with STIHL equipment strongly preferred; STIHL Gold or Silver Technician certification is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to read parts diagrams, service manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in a shop environment.
  • Valid driver's license preferred.
Preferred Skills
  • Knowledge of two-cycle and four-cycle engines.
  • Experience with electrical diagnostics and fuel systems.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple repair orders while meeting deadlines.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
