Job description

About Above Expectations, LLC
At Above Expectations, we believe support is more than a service - it's a relationship built on dignity, compassion, and possibility. We provide person-centered residential services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Delaware, helping each person build independence, meaningful connections, and a life they're proud of. Our team celebrates small wins, creates big opportunities, and shows up every day ready to make a difference.
If you're passionate about helping others and want flexibility while making meaningful impact, you'll feel at home here.
Support When It Matters Most
Our PRN Direct Support Professionals are reliable team players who step in to ensure continuity of care when our individuals need it most. This role is perfect for someone who values flexibility but also understands the importance of commitment, professionalism, and consistency.
We're looking for dependable individuals who can adapt to different homes, support needs, and schedules - while maintaining the same high standard of care.
What You'll Do
As a PRN Direct Support Professional, you will provide hands-on support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our residential homes. While your schedule may vary, your commitment to quality support remains constant. In this role, you will:
Individual Support & Daily Living
  • Assist individuals with activities of daily living such as dressing or hygiene needs
  • Support goals outlined in the Person-Centered Plan (PCP) and Behavior Support Plan (BSP)
  • Promote independence while maintaining safety and dignity
  • Provide crisis support using approved intervention techniques

Medication & Health Support
  • Maintain Approved LLAM Medication Status
  • Administer medications and document according to LLAM protocol
  • Monitor and report health changes or concerns

Documentation & Compliance
  • Document significant events and observations in the Electronic Record
  • Safeguard individuals' funds when assigned
  • Report incidents in accordance with DDDS and company policy
  • Complete required trainings and maintain certifications

Household & Community Engagement
  • Assist with household responsibilities including cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation
  • Provide transportation using agency vehicles when assigned
  • Support participation in community outings and activities

Flexible Scheduling That Works With You
Using the Rippling mobile app, you'll receive notifications when shifts become available and can request the ones that fit your availability and schedule. This allows you to maintain flexibility while still making a meaningful impact.
Whether you're balancing another job, school, family responsibilities, or simply prefer a more flexible schedule, this role gives you the ability to choose when you work - while still being part of a supportive, mission-driven team.
PRN Work Requirements
PRN employees request and accept available open shifts through the company's scheduling system.
Shift requests are reviewed and approved based on operational needs, including:
  • Required certifications (CPR, LLAM, MANDT)
  • Gender-specific staffing requirements when applicable
  • Individual support needs
  • Prior shift assignments to ensure fair distribution of hours among PRN staff

To maintain active PRN status, employees must:
  • Work a minimum of 36 hours per month
  • Not exceed 24 hours per week
  • Maintain required certifications and training
  • Demonstrate reliable attendance when shifts are accepted

While we strive to provide opportunities for all PRN staff to maintain active status, shift availability is not guaranteed and is dependent on operational needs.
Failure to meet minimum monthly hours may result in written warning and review of employment status. All shift assignments remain subject to operational needs and supervisor approval.
Who You Are
You value flexibility - but you also value follow-through. When you accept a shift, you show up ready, prepared, and professional. You adapt easily to different homes and support needs. You communicate clearly and handle challenges calmly.
You understand that even as PRN staff, the individuals we serve rely on you.
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Valid driver's license with clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a 5-panel drug screen (including screening for THC in accordance with State of Delaware and DDDS regulations)
  • Ability to obtain eligible criminal background determination from Delaware State Police
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities required
  • CPR, First Aid, MANDT, and LLAM preferred (training provided if needed)

Training & Onboarding
All PRN Direct Support Professionals must complete a structured onboarding process before independently working shifts. While this role offers scheduling flexibility after onboarding, full attendance during orientation and shadowing is required.
Orientation Week:
Monday-Friday, 9:00am-3:00pm (one full week)
Shadowing Requirements:
Minimum of two (2) shadow shifts the following week, typically 9:00am-2:00pm
Additional supervised medication passes may be required to complete LLAM certification.
Because our orientation and required certifications are scheduled during daytime hours, candidates must be able to attend these sessions in full prior to being placed on the schedule.
If you currently hold active certifications (CPR, First Aid, MANDT), portions of training may be adjusted accordingly; however, attendance at core orientation is still required. Successful and timely completion of onboarding is required to maintain employment.
Employees utilize an electronic timekeeping system, including biometric (fingerprint) clock-in/out, to ensure accurate payroll and compliance.
Work Environment & Physical Expectations
PRN staff work in residential home settings and may support individuals with varying medical and behavioral needs.
To safely perform this role, you should be able to:
  • Assist with physical support and mobility tasks
  • Stand, walk, bend, and lift as needed
  • Drive agency vehicles safely
  • Maintain composure during behavioral or crisis situations
  • Adhere to confidentiality and HIPAA standards

Because our individuals depend on consistent support, reliability is essential when shifts are accepted.
What You'll Love About Working Here
  • Weekly pay to help you stay on top of your financial goals
  • Flexible scheduling that fits your life
  • Meaningful, mission-driven work
  • Opportunity to transition into part-time or full-time roles based on availability and performance

Please note: PRN employees are not eligible for PTO or company-sponsored benefits unless otherwise required by law.
