Summary - basic function of the role
This role leads and is accountable for the HSSEQ function within our Americas Service business unit and falls within the Americas HSSEQ Organizational Structure, reporting into the Regional HSSEQ Manager - Americas.
Our Americas Service business (also known as Hydratight) provides specialist mechanical services to asset owners in the oil and gas, power, generation, and industrial sectors. Our goal is to maintain the integrity of production and process plant and pipework - keeping operations productive and safe. We believe that all leaks can be avoided - and that this is achieved through world class technical leadership, training, and innovation.
This role is a great fit for an experienced HSSE professional ready to take ownership of a regional safety function and lead it to the next level. You will set the strategic direction for HSSEQ across the business unit while staying close enough to the work to influence outcomes on the ground. Experience in the Oil and Gas/Energy Field Service business is advantageous, but candidates with HSSE leadership experience in warehousing, manufacturing, construction, or other hazardous industries are also encouraged to apply.
In this role, you'll hold daily leadership of our HSSE programs within the Hydratight business unit, setting strategic targets and objectives, advising and influencing business leaders, and driving injury & illness prevention programs for our fixed locations and our field service technicians mobilized across the region. You should be able to lead and laterally influence peers, colleagues, and senior stakeholders, and build strong relationships from the get go. You should be comfortable working with a globally situated team, utilizing teleconferencing platforms to collaborate and communicate, and have proven experience developing HSSE policies and management systems and rolling them out across multiple sites.
This is a role with multi-site responsibilities, with locations in CA, TX, and NJ. As a result, travel is a requirement, however all travel is expected to be planned in advance to facilitate for a good level of work/life balance.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
Drive HSSE Culture that prevents injuries, illness, and damage from occurring by:
  • Lead and embed an HSSE culture that prevents injuries and illness by promoting and increasing safety & environmental awareness within the service team, and leading the development and roll out of companywide HSSE initiatives
  • Identify HSSE training needs by maintaining a business unit training requirements matrix; assure the delivery of safety, environmental, and security training and monitor the level achieved through the training management system and training matrices.
  • Ensuring that all tasks are furnished with suitable and sufficient hazard/risk assessments, documented, and communicated to appropriate personnel.
  • Set strategic and specific HSSE targets and objectives, and measure performance across the business unit through site specific HSSE plans and Key Performance Indicator scorecards, reporting up to functional and regional management.
  • Own, develop, and maintain management system elements, including policies, procedures, and work instructions to reflect changing operational circumstances, compliance requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Lead, conduct, and participate in, incident learning teams, facilitating the usage of root cause analysis tools, and drafting and distributing lessons learned reports.
  • Facilitate communication through site and regional HSSEQ forums / meetings and to drive consultation and participation through an active Safety Committee on each site.
  • Own the preparation and submission of regulatory compliance reports including OSHA, EPA & DNR documentation.
  • To maintain and implement a robust Internal Assurance Audit Program in each of the areas of HSSEQ; to drive compliance to Legal requirements, Company Standards and the ISO 9001/ISO 45001/ISO/IEC 17025 Standards.
  • Drive the solicitation and support the implementation of actions, ideas and initiatives that aim to prevent injuries, illness, and damage to the environment from all employees.
  • Take a leading role in HSSE Management Reviews to drive Continuous Improvement.
  • Develop and implement an effective security management plan for all service facilities, performing security assessments as required.
  • Own the administration and data integrity of the Qualityze Data Management System.
  • Undertake regular Site visits and support Senior Management with their planned Site Inspections.
  • Use the VOC to develop mutually beneficial relationships with key customers and ensure customer expectations are met at every opportunity.
  • Ensure that CARs are raised, investigated by a relevant team and closed out in a timely fashion for all Quality issues within their area of responsibility.
  • Ensure that all elements of the ISO/IEC 17025 certification are maintained, including the development of technical documentation and processes to manage tool calibration laboratories.
  • Develop and maintain a risk register for the business unit, ensuring that all hazards are identified and mitigated to ALARP.
  • Ensure a robust management of change process is implemented and maintained across the business unit.
  • Ensure a robust emergency preparedness and response plan is in place, and that it is regularly reviewed and exercised to confirm its effectiveness.
  • Act as subject matter expert on applicable federal, state, and local HSSE legislation and reporting requirements; maintain a legal and other requirements register and implement a legal compliance assurance audit program.
  • Develop and implement an effective environmental management system and support environmental sustainability initiatives through the collection, collation, and reporting of sustainability data as required.
  • Develop, maintain, and implement an effective waste management plan and Environmental Aspects and Impacts Register for each facility.
  • Ensure chemical substances are assessed, stored, and used appropriately, that all Safety Data Sheets (SDS) are maintained up to date, and that personnel are aware of the related SDS requirements.
  • Implement Enerpac Tool Group Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) tools to drive continuous improvement throughout the business unit.
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development to site safety personnel and safety committees, and influence business leaders to embed a positive safety culture across the region.

Skills and Competencies
  • Proficient computer skills and experience including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio; Sharepoint experience is preferred.

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university, or equivalent vocational qualification. 5+ years of HSSE experience in the oil and gas and/or service, assembly, or manufacturing fields, including demonstrated experience leading HSSE programs and teams. Must be able to obtain and maintain a TWIC card, DISA status, and other required access credentials for customer job sites. Preferred experience working in and around service environments, including nuclear, power generation, oil and gas, and tool rental facilities.

  • Lead Auditor - ISO 9001/ISO 45001/ISO/IEC 17025

  • JSA or Behavioral Based Safety Training Certification.

Physical Demands
Employee may have to lift documents/work materials up to 30 pounds in weight. Employee will have to be able to walk/climb to a variety of primary work locations, including traveling by air/auto to remote sites. Employee will need to listen, understand, and speak with team members in person, telephonically, and electronically at all levels within a diverse workforce and with supported organizations. Employee is able to work in front of a personal computer and telephone for long periods of time.
Flexibility to travel within the US between 25-40% of the time.
Work Environment
Primary work environment is temperature-controlled office setting but may also be visiting different service job sites where following appropriate safety protocols at the location would be required, including the usage of respiratory protective equipment, hearing protection, and fall protection. Employee will be exposed to low levels of noise in the office and elevated levels of noise on job sites.
