About Modo Energy
The energy transition is the biggest infrastructure buildout in human history. Modo Energy is the data platform at the centre of it.
We build the benchmarking, forecasting, and valuation tools that the world's most serious energy investors, developers, and operators depend on to make decisions. If a battery gets financed, built, or traded anywhere in the world, there's a good chance Modo data was in the room.
Founded in 2019, we're 90+ people across London, New York, Sydney, and Madrid; $30M Series B, AI-native, and moving fast.
This is a rare chance to join a category-defining company at the moment it's scaling globally.

This is a technical, product-focused role at the intersection of energy modelng, data science, and customer-facing delivery.
What You'll Do

  • Source, process, and interpret large, complex datasets used as inputs to our forecasting and optimisation models
  • Perform rigorous quality assurance across published numbers and customer-facing deliverables
  • Craft the narrative behind our forecasts - policy shifts, market design changes, and structural trends in power markets
  • Work in a product-focused way to ensure forecasts and tools align closely with user needs
  • Partner with our development team to integrate models and outputs into The Modo Energy Terminal

What We're Looking For
The Essentials
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a quantitative field - mathematics, engineering, computer science, physics, economics, or similar
  • 3-5 years of experience analyzing power markets and energy systems
  • Proven experience producing high-visibility, customer-facing analytical outputs
  • Hands-on experience modeling power systems and/or energy assets: power price forecasting, optimisation and dispatch models, or locational dynamics and real-time operations
  • Familiarity with US power markets, including renewable technologies, market design, and regulatory frameworks
  • Proficiency in Python and the scientific Python stack (NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, scikit-learn)
  • Experience with linear programming and optimization frameworks
  • Hands-on experience with cloud environments (AWS or equivalent)
  • A builder mentality - track record of using AI tools to optimize and improve analytical workflows

Nice To Have
  • Experience with energy storage or battery asset modeling
  • Familiarity with FERC market structures, ISOs/RTOs, or capacity market design
  • Experience integrating analytical models into customer-facing data products

Compensation & Equal Opportunity
  • Base salary range: $110,000-$170,000 per year, depending on experience
  • The salary range listed reflects industry benchmarks for this role. Modo Energy's policy is to pay top of personal market - if you're exceptional, we'll make it work
  • 25 days annual leave, medical, dental and vision coverage, and 401(k) with optional employer matching
  • Modo Energy is an equal opportunity employer - employment decisions are made on the basis of qualifications, merit, and business need. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, colour, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, pregnancy, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by federal, New York State, or New York City law
  • For assistance or a reasonable accommodation during the application or interview process, contact us at careers@modoenergy.com

What You Can Expect From Us

You'll have real ownership from day one, work alongside some of the brightest people in the industry, and be part of a company that's defining a new category in the global energy market. We're hybrid: everyone works Tuesday to Thursday in office, with Monday and Friday flexible. We offer top-of-market compensation, equity for every employee, and the space to take your career wherever you want it to go.
We're looking for people who want to do the best work of their careers. If that's you, we want to talk.
