What You'll Do The Sales Leadership Program is an entry-level development role that trains individuals to become scrap buyers through hands-on experience in sales, market analysis, and customer relationship management within the recycling industry. Participants learn Nucor’s business through field exposure, mentorship, and direct interaction with customers and operations teams. Duties of the role include but are not limited to: 6-12 months hands-on, in-depth training in one Geographic Region. Learn and model our Safety First culture including OSHA and Safety programs. Develop and support relationships with accounts to provide best possible customer service. Gain an understanding of the scrap recycling market through customer visits and mentor shadowing. Become an expert in your regional marketplace and communicate market forecasts. Interact with customers, vendors, suppliers, and teammates to resolve problems. Master conflict resolution and relationship management skills. Remain current with the scrap metal recycling industry through publications and trade associations. Expect frequent travel. Relocating after the program is required. Work outside in industrial environments and extreme weather. What We're Looking For Required: Bachelor’s degree preferably in Business, Sales, Economics, Finance, or related field. Exceptional communication skills. Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively. Exceptional organizational skills, customer service, and adaptability. Ability to make quick decisions with confidence. Preferred: Continuous improvement mindset and creative problem solving. Ability to interface effectively with customers and teammates. Previous leadership experience. Previous sales and/or customer service experience. Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
