Employer & Industry UsageFire departments, EMS agencies

EMT Firefighters typically earn lower pay than Paramedic Firefighters due to differences in required certifications and scope of medical practice. Both roles are vital in emergency response, but Paramedic Firefighters generally have higher earning potential due to their advanced skills and certifications.

Do EMT firefighters get paid more than firefighters?

EMT firefighters typically earn less than full-time firefighters because EMTs often have lower certification levels and work part-time or in emergency medical services. Firefighters usually have higher salaries due to additional training, responsibilities, and the requirement to operate firefighting equipment and respond to fires and rescue operations. Salary differences can vary based on location, experience, and department budgets.
