Job description

Bargaining Unit: EAP

Rate of Pay: $47.27/hour + DOE

Summary
Responsible for the implementation of quality nutritional care including patient interviews, assessment of nutritional status, intervention, and monitoring in the acute hospital and long-term care. Outpatient services areas include: Cancer Center, Diabetes Clinic, Home Health and Hospice, and Care Coordination. Focus areas include, but are not limited to, nutrition support (enteral and parental nutrition), diabetes, cardiovascular disease, gastrointestinal disease, oncology, dysphagia, and food allergies. Interdisciplinary communication, discharge care planning, and referral to community outreach programs will also be provided as appropriate. The RDN will also serves as a resource in the development of policies and procedures related to nutritional care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Consults with Physicians and other health care personnel to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions for patients.
  • Performs nutrition screening, nutrition assessments and consults for acute in-patients, extended care residents, home health, hospice and cancer center patients.
  • Formulates menus for therapeutic diets based on medical and physical conditions of patients.
  • Instructs patients and their families in nutritional principles, dietary plans, food selection, and preparation.
  • Teaches nutrition and diet therapy, presents workshops, participates in special events.
  • Demonstrates System Values in performance and behavior.
  • Complies with System policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Minimum Education/Experience
Bachelor's Degree and 1-2 years relevant experience

Required Licenses/Certifications
Registered Dietician (RD) Commission of Dietetic Registration (CDR)

Nevada Dietician State of Nevada, Licensed Dietitian
  • Within 3 months of hire into job
Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
  • Within 3 months of hire into job

Other Experience/Qualifications
Master's Degree preferred
