Per Diem Variable Shift
About Carson Tahoe Health
CTH is a not-for-profit healthcare system with 240 licensed acute care beds, fully accredited by the Center for Improvement in Healthcare Quality (CIHQ). CTH was voted 5th most beautiful hospital in the nation nestled among the foothills of the Sierra Nevada in North Carson City and only a short drive away from world-famous Lake Tahoe & Reno. We serve a population of over 250,000 and feature two hospitals, two urgent cares, an emergent care center, outpatient services and a provider network with 19 regional locations.
Summary
Under the direction of the department manager and supervision of a Charge Nurse/Team Lead, demonstrates proficiency in administering the fundamentals of the nursing process, contributes to the nursing assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation. Develops and participates in the care plan of the patient.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Current and unencumbered licensure or Interim Permit as a Registered Nurse (RN) through the Nevada State Board of Nursing
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers
  • Desire to work within a comprehensive healthcare team.
  • Demonstrates a knowledge base related to the following through previous evaluations and education documentation:
    • Collection and processing of data related to physiological and psychosocial needs of non-critical and critical status patients.
    • Identification of nursing diagnosis.
    • Development of a comprehensive plan for nursing care.
    • Implementation of a plan of nursing care.
    • Evaluation of care based on observable patient responses.
  • Basic level computer skills required for:
    • Accessing and navigating Carson Tahoe Health (CTH) intranet for forms, policies and procedures.
    • Accessing and entering data on organization wide software such as the timekeeping system and Outlook email.
    • Accessing and using internet and specific applications required to perform job requirements.

Unit Specific Requirements:
Ambulatory Infusion Center
Required:
  • Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy and Immunotherapy Provider Card with course completion required within six (6) months of hire or entry into the position.
  • Required Tumor Board meeting - minimum attendance.
    • One (1) per month for Full Time employees.
    • Six (6) meetings per year for Part Time employees.
    • Three (3) meetings per year for Per Diem employees.

Preferred:
  • Chemotherapy experience

Cardiac Rehabilitation
Required:
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) for healthcare providers within three (3) months of hire or entry into the position.

Medical Imaging
Required:
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) for healthcare providers upon hire or entry into the position.
  • Completion of Relias training course for Moderate and Deep Sedation within seven (7) days of hire or entry into the position.

Outpatient Procedures
Required:
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) for healthcare providers at hire or entry into the position
    • New Graduates must complete American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) for healthcare providers within six (6) months of hire or entry into the position.
  • Completion of Moderate Sedation course within thirty (30) days of hire or entry into the position.
