Job Summary:
The successful Non-Paid Instructor of Emergency Dispatch must possess the academic and practical expertise to guide student learning and success, and to serve as a mentor and model for students. The Non-Paid Instructor of Emergency Dispatch is experienced in emergency communications/telecommunications operations and is affiliated with a partnering local or state dispatch center or public safety agency participating in CCD's approved cross-walk partnership. This is a non-paid instructional role; the instructor's time is contributed by, and the instructor generally remains employed and compensated by, the sponsoring dispatch center or agency. This position will demonstrate strong instructional skills and engage a diverse student body using traditional, nontraditional, and innovative methods of instruction and effectively structure classes and curriculum to support program and course outcomes. Teaching can occur on campus, off campus at a partner location and/or online.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The Non-Paid Instructor of Emergency Dispatch is responsible for instructing assigned in person classes or delivering on-line content consistent with CCCS, CCD, CTE and department policies. Course content will adhere to the learning objectives of the regular syllabus and, with department policies. The Non-Paid Instructor of Emergency Dispatch is available, either face to face or electronically, to students in assigned classes to provide additional academic support as needed and appropriate for the teaching assignment.
Emergency Dispatch Certificate — Required Courses
Non-Paid Instructors of Emergency Dispatch may be assigned to teach one or more of the following courses that make up the 17-credit Emergency Dispatch Certificate, based on the instructor's specific area of expertise.

Current, relevant industry license/certification as an emergency dispatcher/public safety telecommunicator (e.g., Colorado POST Telecommunicator Certification, APCO or NENA certification, or equivalent agency-issued credential) with 2,000 verified occupational/industry hours within the last fifteen years. Relevant areas may include Emergency Dispatch, 911/Emergency Communications, Law Enforcement, Fire, or EMS Dispatch. A completed master's degree or jurist doctorate in a related field with 2,000 verified occupational/industry hours within the last five years also satisfies this requirement.

IAED Certification and a completed master's degree in a related field with 2,000 verified occupational/industry hours within the last five years also satisfies this requirement.
